Is MEGAPIXEL value all about a camera's quality?

nice cool, i really dont think megapixel affect the quality of the pictures too.. and i think megapixels only affect the size of the image.. its like comparing a cybershot 5.0 megapixel from a 3.0 megapixel DSR.. what ever angle you took.. DSR always win in an overall quality...

pixel values are not the only factor you'll have to consider in defining the quality. honestly i'm not familiar with photography terms, but i'll chip in what i know. for quality, you'll also have to consider the processor speed, zoom capacity, facial recognition (in some digicams).

1 Pixel= 1 single sqaure

Therefore:
the HIGHER the number of mega-pixels, the SHARPER the image.

Other QUALITY factors such as: name brand, speed, lens, zoom, screen size, even price, etc...all aid in the buying of a digital camera. These factors are really left up to the buyer's personal preference. But the QUALITY or SHARPNESS of the IMAGE, is detemined by the HIGHEST number of pixels that a camera's screen is divided into.

The minimum for most basic digital camers is set around 7 mega pixels.
Although, even a 4 mega pixel camera, can produce fine quality images.
A SINGLE pixel image, is what is seen in an E-mail.

Megapixels only really make a difference when you're printing very large copies of your photos. I don't really pay too much attention to the number of megapixels when purchasing a new camera. I have a 6 megapixel camera and a 12 megapixel camera and both are fine!

The deciding factors when buying my camera were the 51-area point autofocus with 3D tracking, self-cleaning sensor, low noise at high ISOs, Mirror Up mode capability, expeed image processing system, large LCD, etc. So there's a lot more that goes into picking a camera besides megapixels!

actually, the MP does count. A LOT! but not in the way that one would expect. And, not alone!

when we talk about MP, we should consider one more thing (and this is proof why DSLRs are better than point and shoot), and that is, THE SENSOR SIZE! 10 mp is better quality than 15 mp on sensors with the same size. The more the mp, the smaller the actual pixel, and less the information. Your image will still have the same subjects in it, and it will look the same zoomed way out.

on the other hand, more mp are better for cropping. you can't take perfect images everytime, so you'll wanna crop some of them. here, the extra mp come in handy.

the mp affair is a very debated subject on the internet. some say it's better, some say it's the same thing, while others say it's worse.

if you don't plan to do monstrous prints, i don't think that the difference with be so noticeable.
