so-called "photography" today |
|
When you look around today, a lot of people carry around cameras especially D-SLR's (cameras used by proffesionals) its like everyone's trying to be an "artist". Everybody can take a picture but not everyone can make an art out of it. Its like another expression of art being taken for granted so much like music, fashion, etc.

A lot of people because of the progress of technology can purchase digi cams or other professional cameras but not everyone have the eye to take pictures that can create something mysterious about it. the essence of picture is spontaneity in an artistic level. Its magic.

3. lalapuff (144) | 1 year ago | yeah i hate it, too. thanks for having this discussion. it's been a week and i just stumbled upon this=) i especially hate it when those people with point and shoot cams can really take/produce better shots (in terms of subject meaning and art's sake, of course) than those with posers of DSLRs..haha talk about slight bitterness. happy myLotting!

4. migsmartinez (1095) | 1 year ago | I have to agree with you guys that there are people out there who are posing to be photographers. I actually own an SLR camera but I'm not a pro. I'm just have photography as my hobby and I carry around my camera most of the time. I'm not good or anything but I do a lot of shooting to improve on my skills. I'm not taking photography for granted. It's actually the other way around. I'm actually admiring it. It's really difficult to take good pictures but the best way to improve on your shooting skills is to keep taking pictures. Hopefully, if you see me shooting somewhere, you don't look down upon me.
What I don't like are those people who buy SLR's just to show off. They bring it around with them and treat it as if it was a point-and-shoot camera.

punkix (277) | 1 year ago | yeah having to own a dslr, they give a different meaning to phoography, a lower level of meaning to be exact. not all people that owns a dslr or a pro cam has they eye of an artist, its deeply rooted in you first then you can study to learn more about it.
just pracice and shoot migs. check out my multiply if you have time:)

5. RainSHiNe (524) | 1 year ago | hi, I'm sorry Punkix but I dont see whats the problem is. I might be in the minority here but when I read this it kinda reminded me of when I was in junior high & kids constantly telling other kids, "you shouldnt wear that, you cant pull it off" "you fix your hair like that, who are you posing as?".
I mean come on. I wish more people would be more brave & expressed their hobbies. Not everyone can dance well, but I think everyone should dance. Not everyone can paint well, but I think everyone should have a chance to. Not everyone can take great pictures, but, heck yeah, why shouldnt they. There are so many different sets of eyes and opinions of what is considered "good". Would you stop yourself from doing something new or stop doing something period because you thought it wasn't good enough for someone elses standard?
I think the only way ART is taken for granted is when we dont give it a chance by getting involved in it because we are afraid of not being good enough ourselves.
If someone wanted to take pictures, paint,or play music etc. but, stopped because he thinks to himself "I'm not a pro" that would be taking art for granted
I love photography, I always wanted to take the classes in school as I am sure many others wanted to, But I couldnt afford the supllies. I still haven't bought a d-lsr but as soon as I can I will.
HHmmm, what if there are some super duper computer geeks who thought... " hey that computer system is too sophisticated for these users,,they dont know what they are really doing??"..LOL
tske it Teezy KEEP SMILING =D

6. Davidarich (766) | 1 year ago | I'm with RainSHiNE. Who cares what camera someone carries or if they are a great artist, a snapshooter or a poser? Focus on your photography and get all you can out of what you can afford (or understand)~ master your camera, master yourself: that's where the real photography comes from!

7. everlasting (9961) | 1 year ago | You are right. I love photography and I have a simple digital camera that I bring with me anywhere I go. I love taking pictures and I am good at editing it thru my CS3. My dad taught me how to take pictures and I am enjoying it immensely. I have not tried selling my photos becasue I used them on my comments.
