Is classical music dead? |
| |
| I love classical music. In my family, I am the only one who loves this music genre. For me to be able to listen to it, It is either I am alone at home or I am using my headphone. I have a circle of friends who love classical music, too, and I do not know if this is by chance that they are intellectuals (professors, physicists, scientists and engineers). I came to love classical music because my dad introduced it to us. In fact, me and my siblings' theme song is Chopin's Nocturne 9 opus 2. I do not want for these wonderful music to be forgotten but with the trend we have now, is classical music really dead? | | | | | |

| | It's not dead yet... I still listen to classic music sometimes during weekend. It's quite far away from my normal fast pace life during the week days. | | | | | | |

| | I can't agree with you more.I am a man of such character that can't not be get along well with the world around sometimes. So the classic music with slow rhythm and lyric melody can be such a comfortable place that far away from the normal fast pace of life, where i can have a rest. | | | |

| | Would you agree that these parents are rich and can afford their kids to learn classical music instruments? The majority are not rich and could not afford these classes. I wish there are programs that will give the same learning opportunities to indigents. | | | |

| | I don't think so. The fact is that It has probably always been the taste of the few anyway. Oh, sure the greats also wrote some more popular music, but the fact is that in the old days most of the people - the working class that couldn't afford the fancy dress and lacked the interest - were in the bars singing the popular songs of the day - the equivilent to having rap or rock and roll played. I think it is still a viable music because there are still some who try to write it. | | | | | | |

| | I do agree with you that classical music has a connotation of being the rich music but I do not agree with this. Most of these rich will watch orchestra play but they are really bored. | | | |

| | oh, in the old days the music was the music of the "cultured" and even if they might prefer going to the bar and singing along, they were at the symphony. Now it is the property of the intellegent few who enjoy it, it is still considered the music of the cultured intellectual, but you can be a begger and listen to it if you so desire, because of recordings. | | | |

| | I like classical music. When I'm studying or doing something i have to concentrate on i play classical music. No one else in my family likes it much and it tends to keep them from bothering me as well as clears my head ad helps me relax while i think. | | | | | | |

| | Classical music will never be dead. I love classical music, most particularly Bach and Mozart. My most memorable moments are attending the Last Night of the Proms at The Royal Albert Hall when we lived in England. There were also lunchtime concerts at the Wigmore Hall which we often used to attend. The only music likely to have a quick death, never to be heard again, is the awful banshee wailing of the modern pop performers. | | | | | | |

| | LOL! That is the best description of the performers today, banshee wailing! Most of the sond=gs today just die after a week while classical music is still here after hundreds of years. | | | |

| | hi everlasting for me classical music is sure alive. I am a Mozart fantatic. I love the purity the elegance the beauty of his serenades, his syphonies, his sonatas, just all of his composing. I can listen over and over and come away with something different, something new. I also love Beethoven and some Bach, and Haydn, there is no one else quite like Haydn, I love his surprise symphony. I liKe Chopin too, but Mozart is my favorite for calming me, relaxing me, pepping me up. listen to his violin sonatas, they are unlike anyone elses sonatas trust me.so somebody else out there must like Mozart surelY? | | | | | | |

| | I love Mozart! His magic flute is in my cellphone! I also have a double album of his complete harp symphonies. I have a playlist of classical music at yuwie and nobody seemed to visit my page but when I replaced it with a "swing" by michael buble, my views were tripled! That is too bad. | | | |
