Branded goods - do they matter? |
|
Do branded goods matter to you? Be it watches, shoes, clothes, electronics, phones. Does the brand matter to you when you buy things? Is there a certain brand that you always buy from?
I think people buy branded goods cause they believe they have bought something of the same brand before and think they are getting the same quality, and they get a sense of familiarity - especially with electronics where the interfaces are similar.
When you buy a brand, you expect the same quality, so shoes you buy that are more durable, flexible, etc.
I personally don't care much for branded goods, unless I'm getting something that specifically needs a quality that a brand provides, like durability.

1. lilaclady (19740) | 1 year ago | No I am definitely not a brand person infact i have said to some of my friends that i believe the big brand companies see them coming, like the other day a friend of mine said I had the same sports shoes on as his, he said they are my sports shoes and knowing they buy good ones and i buy mine from target, I said i don't think so, i asked him how much he paid as he kept insisting they were the same, even making take one of mine off and checking the soles, he said he paid over $100 and i said well there you go I paid 415 at Target for mine...

2. barbiedollgirl (826) | 1 year ago | No ... I don't think it's necessary to buy designer names and brand names to get good quality goods. Some people think that it is very important to buy items that are expensive because they get a higher status from wearing these types of merchandise. However, to me it doesn't matter if I pay $10.00 for a handbag rather than a Vera Bradley handbag that may cost $50-$100. I will pay that much for a family member or friend if they want it ... my niece wanted one for her high school graduation ... so I got one for her ... it was nice ... but I would never spend that much for myself.

likaes (322) | 1 year ago | How would you find out if the goods you're getting are good quality? They don't have the backing of a brand.. but then again, branded goods aren't necessarily good quality either - they're just known as being good.

mwhitby1985 (152) | 1 year ago | I agree, clothes its all about size, comfort and price. But electrical things have to be branded otherwise 9 times out of 10 they will be rubbish.
Alot of non branded food tastes the same as the branded food but there is the odd thing that just tastes like rubbish. Baked beans for example, how is it possible to make baked beans taste bad? Its not, so just buy the cheap ones.

likaes (322) | 1 year ago | The cheap ones might be cheaper for a reason - lower quality beans perhaps? More filler added into your can? You get what you pay for I suppose

animeniak (347) | 1 year ago | yea im with u on this one.. i really don't care what clothes i wear, and i dun like the branded clothes, because they are just too darn expensive for their name really... some electronics and other appliances i am kind of picky on those... just like u LOL and the food... i just get whatever i want to eat, whatever's cheapest on the market.. they all taste the same to me (because my mouth is cheap? lol) and i prefer NOT to go to the luxury restaurant because cheap food is alot better to make your stomach full:p

5. elitess (2666) | 1 year ago | Uh well, i don't really am into brands stuff especially when it comes to cloths... i have seen 100% cotton t-shirts that just had a small brand (like the nike mark) and they were one color, nothing special at about 90 euros and i have seen ultra cool t-shirts 100% cotton as well at 9 euros...
I only care the brand for my snickers but not even there it's not an ultra expensive brand, but just a good one (that i know for sure that has good quality stuff).

6. maigzen (567) | 1 year ago | When I was a lot younger, I would always go for the design and color. If something looks attractive to me, that would be enough for. I didn't care much on the brand, quality and durability. As grew older, began considering the quality and the durability. The problem though is that, most products with good quality are the branded ones. I am not sure though if everyone is agreeable to this, but this is just based on my observation. However, since most of the branded things are expensive, I just always remind myself that the durability of something depends on the user.^^

10. iceblizzard (461) | 1 year ago | For me, I don't go for the brand, I look for quality. By brother always have me on this matter, he keeps on telling me that branded ones are of best quality. But I found them costly compared to what I bought which are cheaper and I think the quality is just the same. The only branded thing that I wear is my sneakers, I always prefer Adidas over everything else.
