Freecycle and Orphan birds... |
| |
| My husband brought home this used birdcage about a year ago, I have no idea why because as much as I think birdsd are pretty, they do kind of scare me, so I won't take care of one. Well, last Spring I tried to sell it, but no one wanted a bird cage so I just took it and put it on the back porch. I am a member of freecycle and soemone needed to borrow a birdcage for these baby orphan birds just until they could fly..I found out they didn't live too far away and that they could come by anytime and take the birdcage, I didn't want it back..The lady contacted me later and thanked me and I said that she should take some pictures just not really being serious, but would have been nice to see the birds..Well, she did it, she took a picture and sent it to me..So these are the baby orphan birds in the birdcage I gave to this lady..Aren't they cute? | | Baby Birds | | | | |

| | Oh that is so neat. I love freecycle. The house I lived in before I moved here when we moved in there was an old tent in the garage. We already had a tent and I saw no need to keep it so listed it on freecycle. A single dad with no money got it and I ran into him in the store a couple months later and he thanked me again and said he and his son had used the tent every weekend since they got it. REally made be feel good knowing that someone who really wanted/needed and appreciated it got it. | | | | | | |

| | I got some computer software one time - I didn't really want or need it but son thought it would be cool. Worked out pretty good, there were several games he liked and a couple graphics programs I've use. I've watched the activity on freecycle and am convienced there are people who all they do is watch to see when someone posts something and grab it whether they want or need it or not. | | | |

| | You can see who get what on freecycle? Otherwise how do you know that someone is always getting something? You will have to enlighten me..Mostly because I remember this lady recently had a medium dog kennel and I replied..Well she was obviously cleaning out her garage/basement, because she posted up many things after I replied..She even had teen clothes and forgot to mention if they were boys or girls, so I contacted her and asked and said I was interested if they were girls.. Well not only did I not get the clothes, but the kennel went too and a day later she posted up for another dog kennel...(It may have been the same or she had 2, I don't know) So I again said I wanted it and I didn't get it.. | | | |

| | The site doesn't show who got it but on ours at least there are a couple who always post 'thank you bla bla bla for the bla bla' As for the kennel going back on the next day possibly the person who originally got it didn't come pick it up so the lady reposted it. When I put the tent on I had several respond and I saved them all for that reason - if the person didn't show up then I could contact one of the others that had wanted it. | | | |

| | Well, I know some people don't use the first come first serve, but I do, especially if the person is close to where I live..So when I contacted her right away after getting the e-mail, I was really hoping to get it.. | | | |

| | I actually did second come second serve but the first lady who contacted me said she didn't really need it but was thinking for her son and that if someone else wanted it that would be fine. The single dad was the second one and I messaged the first and told her the situation and she was as thrilled as I was. | | | |

| | Hi book, it is good to hear from you..Sorry about the birds not making it, I guess it depends on how strong they are and how old..These birds looked very healthy, so I hope they do make it.. | | | |
