My remote control, phone and calculator has a raised dot on the number five.

I was doing my accounts when i asked my wife why my calculator has a raised dot on the 5.

She replied it was to help the blind work out thier bearings thus allowing them to use the calculator.

thats clever i thought.

then the penny dropped. how would a blind person see the answer?

So why does a calculator have a dot on the 5?

I just looked at my cell phone and it did not have a bump on the five, but I think I have seen this before.

I have no answer to your question, though. Some smarter chap will though, like the walking lion. I'll keep watching.
