potty training a boy! PLEASE HELP!

Try putting Cheerios or goldfish in the toilet and ask him to aim at them. You could also try having him watch Daddy or another male. Children like to imitate others, so that could help. If he is showing all the signs that he is ready, then just be consistent and patient. Try also getting him some cool big boy underwear with his favorite characters on them for motivation to do a good job.

Are you trying to teach him to sit or stand? My son would not sit on either his training potty or the commode. My mom told me to sit him backwards on the commode so that he can see, that way he is not afraid he is going to fall in.*shrugs* it worked for us. My biggest problem was not peeing. Mine always wanted to go hide in a corner somewhere for that. I like to have never got him to go to the bathroom for that!

My son just got trained within the last 3 months and he is 3 1/2. He just wasn't interested in it. He is my forth child and only boy so I went through training 3 girls without any problems. We just started putting him on the big potty and finally he got it. We haven't even thought about training him to stand after seeing his sisters go potty he didn't understand why he should stand. We will work on that one later. The one problem we had with him was he took of his pants and underware everytime he went potty, now he tries to keep them on and doesn't run out of the bathroom holding his pants and underware in his hands. But be patient, your son will get it sooner or later.

We have 2 Boys now ages 16 and 13.. when we trained our oldest son we put character underpants on him and told him that if he went pee pee in his pants the character would drown,,, so it took a few days and then it worked just fine .. the younger one was easy b-caz we had the older one to teach him.... maybe you need to have a 2nd son..lololol.. good luck

When I potty trained my son - it was a week's time and he had it down! The fact that we lived in a travel trailer and you have to manually step on a little lever to make the toilet flush and he thought htat was the greatest thing and I told him he couldn't step on the lever unless he went potty in there first, of course had nothing to do with it!!!

But I am training my grand daughter now and maybe you can use some of these ideas for a boy - - she loves the disney princess'ss. and thinks she herself is a princess and I got her panites with the princess'ss on them. She fell in love with them and I told her as soon as she goes in the potty, she gets to wear them. Well, she started, now the thing she is working on, is "not going potty on their heads" for making it to the toilet on time!! Happened so oddly and without provication but she dribbled a little and was upset and I told that was okay and she'll do better next time etc. But she she was so upset and told me she "peed on the princess head!". So she tells me when she has to go "I have to go now so I don't pee on their heads". Hey, if it works, go for it!

Went through the same thing with my son. Now he's finally going pee on the potty. We just make it a big deal and dance and do a silly little song everytime he goes on the potty. Something to really make him feel like a big boy. We also sometimes told him he'd get a couple M&M's if he went on the potty. We haven't even tried to teach him to stand yet to aim in the potty. When we do though I heard from numerous people to put the Cheerios in the toilet and let them practice aiming. The only problem we have now is he won't go poo on the potty. Any suggestions on that one?
