potty training

I notice you live in the US.

When I was trying to potty train my daughter, I lived in the UK and I remember having some problems.

I was basically at the end of my tether and mentioned to a friend where could I get some help.

Well, there is in the UK a nurse available through the doctor's surgery who does just that, she comes to your house and gives you suggestions on what to try.
With her help, my daughter got it! And I was still sane.

The only trouble is, I can't remember all that she suggested.

I think I had tried quite a lot of the techniques, like leaving the potty around and just let her see it, and play with it and sit on it without doing anything.

The technique though that did work with my daughter was a star chart.

Every time she did anything in the potty - she got a star. When she got 5 stars she got a present.

I also can't remember what age she was when she 'got it'. She could have been a bit older than 2.

I think the thing to remember is - that they do get it in their own time, so try not to get too hung up on it yourself. Good luck.

The boys are always harder to train!! I have a 4 yr old and he just get it down. Keeping trying and with time it will work out. Good Luck!!

Hey first and foremost get him very attractive potty. He shd feel like sitting on it:D ... Then you will know the signs that he is abt to get it, u can make him sit on the potty for some time. Try explaining him that he is supposed to do it in this itself
Its more of a habit. It will take you max 2-3 months not more than that

we had a hard time potty training my daughter. it's just now that she's turning 3 that she's really able to tell us if she needs to go. before, she will tell us right after she pottied. i bought her a really cute potty but i guess it all depends on your child's personality because my daughter pottied on it and thought it was dirty after we've washed it and never used it again. i wrote about the experience on my blog - http://mommy-fied.blogspot.com/

i cannot tell you how to potty-train your child but i can advise you not to make the experience traumatic for him. boys are harder to train but it will come by. explain and introduce to him the fun in being potty-trained. Goodluck.

When my son was young I tried to train him and he fought me. I gave up and as soon as it was his idea he potty trained him self. We bought him some underware and told him that Spongebob did not want to be peed on. He still had some accidents and trainer underware helped at night. They were thicker and when he wet at night I didnt have a bed to clean.

Each kid is different and different things will work. Charts help some, bribery, Find out what he wants.
