Season Premiere |

Is Supernatural going holy roller?
So with the season premiere and the entrance of an "Angel of the Lord" do you think Supernatural is going to be taking the "High Road"? If they do start to bring in the God aspect will this cause them to lose viewers?
In ancient times, before christianity, demons and angels were interchangable words and demons were not necessarily bad guys. Could it be that this Castiel is a "wolf in sheep's clothing"?
Thoughts?

I think there is going to be a battle between Dean and Sam. Apparently Sam has grown to use his "powers" and Maybe the Angel was sent to destroy a huge evil that only Dean knew how to and maybe that evil is Sam because even the one chick that killed dean didn't affect Sam and was scared off... I think this season is going to be worth watching.

| angelsdozens (19) | 1 year ago | I'm a pagan so I believe in all sorts of things. In case anyone was wondering though I did look up Castiel and it is an actual angel. Oddly enough it is the Angel of Thursday which fits since Dean came back on a Thursday (date on newspaper in the gas station). I knew they would bring him back, but I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised it was in the premiere. I was also pleasantly surprised to see Sam using his powers. It's a plot twist I have been waiting for for awhile.
I agree though. As long as they don't get preachy (which I don't see happening either) then I will still be watching. I guess a show that deals in demons has to come around to angels eventually.

I never really understood why Sam didn't use his powers, seems a better way to get rid of them then having his @$$ kicked all over the place, LOL

But it wasn't too much of a shocker that Dean con requited by the holy side since he sacrificed his own life to save his brother. also since he's probably a major player as well. we also knew that Sam was being primped to be the main player for the bad side, so the question is, has Sam given into his evil side while enhancing his own powers within the four months Dean was missing. I do believe that he's an arc angel like he says. it makes sense. humans are not supposed to be able to hear the voices and see angels unless they are meant to. and since the demon killing blade didn't work on him the only other explanation is that. when they were trying to figure out who pulled Dean out i would only think of 2 people. the devil himself or god himself....and i was pretty damn close since he was the one who gave the order.
not getting to the religious aspect, but if you have a show where demons, the devil and hell exist, then you have to think there's the opposite side as well right. it'll just be a little hypocritical in my case. you need 2 sides in a war and they're focusing on the 'great battle'. i was just wondering when they would come into play and it looks like this season will be it! i don't think it would lose its viewers. they've already had some of a religious aspect to the past seasons since its a little hard to avoid the fact, especially now days. i know i'm still an avid fan of the show and want it to last a little more longer.

| angelsdozens (19) | 1 year ago | That brings up another question that none of us probably want to face...is the show coming to an end already? I mean this season really seems to be working up to the "Great Battle". Where can they possibly go after that?
Anyone who was a fan of Angel knows what I mean. The "Battle between Good and Evil" ended that series, as it did with Charmed. I can only hope that Supernatural lasts longer.

emarie (4472) | 1 year ago | the battle can last for more then a season, but they could have ended it every season if you look at it. their first challenge was to find their father, and they did towards the end of the first season, then the answer of the yellow eyed demon, in the first and 2nd season then they could have ended it but then they keep putting a good kick at the end. i have confidence in the writers. ANGEL was sad because they ended it at the BEGINNING of the battle. they lost their contract and decided to stop it. I wanted to see the CONCLUSION of the battle to where they can show in supernatural since it would be a long battle i would assume.

xParanoiax (4937) | 1 year ago | On the demon-killing blade thing, we don't really know the rules about it. Remember ol' Yellow Eyes? Only the colt, a weapon that kills EVERYTHING could kill him. We assume that similiar rules work with the knife, but we don't really know.

5. xParanoiax (4937) | 1 year ago | I don't think they're gonna go too deep into christianity. Angels and demons aren't central to christianity...after all. As Supernatural has often demonstrated, alot of critters tend to cross over many cultures and faiths pretty easily...but what brings the show together is it's all 'supernatural' phenomena that the boys have to deal with.
I'm seriously having doubts that Castiel is one of the good guys atm. We'll have to see more of him to really know of course, but nothing's really as it seems on this show. They love to give us just enough information to keep us coming back, but not enough to ruin the mystery...so I doubt it'll lose viewers over this little taste, especially with the doubt involved over Castiel's real motives.

| angelsdozens (19) | 1 year ago | That's a really good point and I agree with the cross faith thing as well. In fact Angels and Demons actually predate Christianity so they could go so many ways with it. I also completely forgot about yellow eyes and the "rules" on killing demons. As for Castiel, you are totally right, he doesn't exactly have a good guy feel, but you also have to take into account that while angels are suppose to be "good" they are also brutal warriors. He has a certain naivety about him though. Several times he looked at Dean like he just didn't understand what his problem was. All I know is I can't wait to find out!
