Teachers are licensed hammers !!!!!!!  

The sad thing today is people who can teach well which is as much an art as it is a science are not choosing to be in the profession. In India for the first generation of English educated elite Teaching was the best option available. In those days there were very few Industrial and other outlets for making a living. So, the best of the educated crop went in for teaching. If you were in such teachers' classes you wouldn't sleep. Since you have asked, I will recount the experience of being a studentin the classes of one of my college teachers- now, why am I giving the example of a college teacher instaead of picking one from the school level fondly? By the time a person reaches the college level he/she feels or begins to feel that he/she is a light unto himself/herself whereas in reality each one has to go a long way. Now, this teacher Mr.C.V.S.Rao had taught us Pulse and Digital Switching Circuits[PDC], in our Electronics Engineering Course [B.E.(ECE)]. The way he spent a week of his time on developing the right attitude to learning , the right way to understand a tecchnical subject like the one he taught, viz., PDC, are somethings that I would never forget.In all Natural Phenomena he said, "the irrational number 'e' occurs." and he had a parable or an allegory by which he introduced this number, that was superb! If you had had the good luck of being a student taught by Dr.Richard P. Feynman(Feynman's Lectures in Physics 3 Vols- even in Book form this Grand Master excels!) is not only sound pedagogy but is a full-fledged treatment received to be a First Rate Scientist. My head bows low to such teachers in respect, so mush that I am willing to overlook the failings of those hapless multitudes who are strapped to their teaching careers much to their discomfiture.
