Have you tried hypnosis for treatment of vices? |
| |
| I have heard and read of stories about individuals who turned to hypnosis to get rid of their vices or addiction, whether from smoking, alcohol, or any kind of harmful addiction. The idea of overcoming these bad habits through hypnosis sounds tempting but after mulling over the idea, I don't find it right. Firstly, you give up your consciousness to somebody you don't even know from Adam and that could scare me to death. What if during the state of hypnosis, the one hypnotizing you does unimaginable things to you? It would certainly be dehumanizing, to say the least. The other reason is, of course, spiritual and I do not have plans of engaging with you on a debate on this as as I do not think this is the proper forum for it. How about you, have you tried hypnosis in one way or the other? Can you please share your experience on this, if any, or what is your take on this? | | | | | |

| | Hypnosis is an extremely powerful tool for personal growth and development. Just like any other tool, it can be used to whack somebody's head off or fix your leaking drain pipe. Every tool is neutral. Its apt to the user how he use it that makes it profane or divine. The more powerful a tool is the more deadlier when used for evil purposes but can do greater good when used wisely. | | | | | | |

| | They said this is effective but I have not tried this one. I do not have addiction right now so I have no reason to try it. Here in the Philippines, hypnosis is used by con artists here to take your valuable things in the public places. many were already victimized. | | | | | | |

| | Yes, many have been victimized by them. How pathetic people can be, to take advantage of innocent victims. Anyway, I still think hypnosis has more harmful effects than good. | | | |

| | I'm not keen on the idea of hypnosis but that's mainly because of the cost. I'm having a terrible time trying to give up smoking and I wish I could afford it. I don't believe that they can do anything with our minds that we don't want them to do, we have to be open to it. If I did get the money somehow I'd make sure I'd find a reputable hypnotist. Then again I quite like the idea of Chinese acupuncture because it's more understandable to me how it works so I'd probably choose that. I've bought some herbs for quitting smoking and I'm working up to it. | | | | | | |

| | Yes I don't know too much about meridian lines yet but I'm going to learn about it because I find it interesting and think there's a great deal of truth in energy being key in things like emotional, spiritual and mental wellness. Also hypnotism's relying too much on someone else, whereas with acupuncture the person is only encouraging the body into healing itself. | | | |

| | Did you read the book 'Many lives many masters'. If you read it you will become a fan of hypnosis. This book is written by a prominent psychiatrist Brian Weiss, who cured a patient using hypnosis (true story). None of the medicines worked on her, no other treatment worked on her. But hypnosis cured her completely without any side effects. Infact she came to know her symptoms were related to her past life events. The doctor risked his career and wrote this book, since he knew people do not believe in these things and would certainly make fun of him and his career would be affected. So anyway the point is that hypnosis does help to get rid of many vices. If you are afraid why don't you ask one of your friend to accompany you during those sessions. That way you will feel safe and will get the benefit of hypnosis too. If I get a chance I will definitely try hypnosis from a prominent psychiatrist. Its not for the purpose of treatment but to get answers to some questions I do not know. Wish you all the best! | | | | | | |

| | As a hypnotherapist, I just wanted to suggest that if you want a psychiatrist to do hypnosis with you, make sure that he or she has training in hypnosis specifically. Many psychiatrists and psychologists get very little training in hypnosis, whereas a qualified hypnotherapist studies hypnosis specifically. Good luck! I hope you find the answers you seek :) | | | |

| | I am a hypnotherapist and addiction specialist. Hypnosis can be very helpful in releasing unwanted habits and behaviors. There is no magic wand, so you have to do your part, but it can certainly help you get going in the right direction. Just a few things I want to clear up...First, you do not surrender your will or consciousness to the hypnotist, but I would suggest working with someone you trust...mainly because the more comfortable you are, the more effective the session will be. Hypnosis works with the imagination, not the will. Nobody can make you do anything you do not want to do. Second, I am a spiritual person and I can't imagine that God would have anything against us using the incredible mind that was given to us...and if your issue is Biblical, the term "hypnosis" was coined in 1825, a very long time after the Bible was completed. It is not in there anywhere. If it is, I would guess that that particular version was translated improperly. I have studied hypnosis and it's origins extensively. I am not trying to debate on this either, I just wanted to clear that up if that was the issue :) All hypnosis is self hypnosis. A good hypnotist is like a "tour guide" taking you into the place within your mind where you can make changes. Hypnosis helps you focus on what you DO want, instead of what you don't want, making it easier to achieve your goal, whatever it is. Also...I got into doing hypnosis because it worked so well for me that I just had to share it with others. I hope this helps :) | | | | | | |
