Campaign McCain in panic? Polls may tell different story than most analysts say |

On the obvious pretext of "work needs to be done" regarding the bail-out package bill; McCain campaign has now suspended his campaign. The economy is doing to McCain's campaign what Palin did to Obama's campaign a week ago. It sets out this echo of panic by all quarters to do something about this situation that has arose. But should they really be and are they telling the truth? If we were looking a just McCain numbers alone we can see that in the past 2 weeks, McCain's numbers were hovering around 44% - 46%. In other words, after his convention bump, the numbers have not changed much. It is Obama's numbers that are volatile. It is like Obama vs the Independents the past 2 weeks. Obama's campaign should worry. What has not been told is that this election is still behaving like it is a referendum on Obama. It is not Obama vs McCain but GObama vs NObama. Look at mylot itself. There are not many people who would vote McCain that would suggest something positive about McCain, they would rather bash Obama. It happens to some extent with the other side, but not that much. The reason why Obama is ahead now is simple. People trust Obama on the economy as compared to the independents. The people that do not like Obama would already vote McCain, right now there are a magic 14% that would decide the national polls. That is not so true with the electoral college... | | | | | |

| | I personally believe those who are trusting Obama on the economy need to reconsider. Just yesterday, he indicated that, to him, the Presidential debates are more important than the economy of our country. He is more concerned with the continuation of his campaign than he is with serving the country in his current position. The point is not whether or not either candidate can focus on more than one thing at a time - the point is that our economy should be the #1 priority right now, and both candidates should be performing the duties of their current elected position. | | | | | | |

| | Come on newtondak... What Obama said is that this can be done together. As I have mentioned it is an obvious pretext by the McCain campaign. His campaign was losing . He needed to turn off the gas and that is why he suspended his campaign. It is what all politicians do. Again Democrats and Republicans are just so blind hating each other and not seeing the damn point. I do not support either position. Both Obama and McCain support this ridiculous bailout package and rather than either one of them having the balls to do the right thing and say "NO, don't do this plan and lets take the medicine". They would rather lose our economy but not their damn elections. They share the same semantics and position. McCain is just playing drama queen trying to get positive attention to null polls that are not in his favor... For the first time in along time, both parties are acting in a bipartisan fashion. There are people from both sides for and against this plan. Bush has now taken both both Senators and to put dissenters on page. They are the to root out people on both sides who oppose this bill and pass it. The debates are a no issue. It can easily be carried out and I hope McCain does not chicken out... | | | |

| | Why is it a big deal that the debate get postponed? I am personally more concerned about our economy than I am about whether they debate on foreign policies. It has been okay with everyone that Obama refuse to to the town hall meetings that McCain asked him to do (for no good reason) but now that McCain wants to postpone the debates so that they can both fulfill their duties as Senators during an economic crisis, he gets criticized for playing campaign tricks? Sounds like yet another double standard to me - something that has become common place for Obama - whatever he does is supposed to be okay - whatever someone else does is up for criticism. At this point, I don't think it matters how our economy got to this point - it matters what is done about it, and I, for one, want my Senator to be a part of the decision (he's not running for President). I would think that those who are represented by McCain and Obama would want the same. | | | |

| | Why the hell should it? Do you think that McCain is so incompetent that he cannot work in the day and debate at night? Is this the first time US presidential candidates held debates in a time of crisis. Should the debates have been postponed in the 40s because of WW2? It was the debates that changed our world in the midst of the great depression. If they cannot multi-task this, they do not deserve to be Presidents. I am not saying McCain cannot do it. The point is he does not want to do it because he needs to re-strategize. The rest is just politics. Now McCain also wants to postpone the VP debates as well. Why? Because she is not ready. No nonsense as economy now a concern. It always was a concern!!! | | | |
