your HIGH SCHOOL reunion is coming up SOON! After all this time! |
|
The class of ---- is having a reunion, or the whole school is opening its doors!
Do you think this is great since you will see all your friends and find out how they did? or
Do you shudder at the thought of even going back in there, it was so awful back then?? OR Are you secretly very curious what happened to certain people but feel shy like you did then about meeting everyone again.

1. IrishRose23 (536) | 1 year ago | I know for a fact that I won't attend my high school reunion when it comes up in a few years. I hated high school so much that I couldn't go back pretending it was a happy time- that would be lying to myself. I every now and then keep in touch with good friends I had in school.... but that's as far as it will go. I suppose as more years go by that it'll change, but as of right now- not happening.

2. sudalunts (4247) | 1 year ago | Actually, I am going to my class reunion in two weeks. I am very excited about going. there are many people I am anxious to see. I know from talking to a person on the committee there are people who are not interested and do not want to be notified of any upcoming reunions. I personally can not understand why someone would not want to see the people they spent very important years of their life with. Maybe, because they got fat, or are not successful in life or whatever reason. I am not fatter, but financially I am not where I would like to be. I actually told the committee leader this, and he volunteered to pay for me and my husband to go, I am so grateful to him for this.

fjaril (4608) | 1 year ago | WOW! and they will pay for you to go! How glad I am for you, being you are one who WANTS to be there. I don't know the reasons, but you may be on to something.. I have seen a few movies with tht twist in it.
But, maybe for some, highschool was NOT at ALL the best or important years of their lives.. who knows, maybe life since has wiped away memories to be replaced by better ones? maybe? Let us know in a post how your reunion was.. Love to know!!

3. 3SnuggleBunnies (3553) | 1 year ago | I totally shudder at the idea. A friend from HS whom I bump into from time to time said several of the "popular" classmates were putting up big fronts that they were going to pay for a limo shuttle for everyone & go bar hopping. Dude didn't show*LOL* I"m happy w/ my life w/o most of those people. Our class president did a great job the last time, sent out a survey to folks as to what they were up to and bound it in a book. So it was nice to read what folks were up to w/o paying on another website & w/o having to put on airs about yourself to people you won't see again for another 5-10 yrs.

fjaril (4608) | 1 year ago | Hej now there is a great idea and one I would prefer to reading an old mates name in the obituary column!! I never heard of this but I wish we had that instead of a reunion .. NEVER will I attend and it has basically to do with why YOU didn't go.. I just wanna be happy as ME.

5. writersedge (4493) | 1 year ago | Our reunions aren't at our school, they're at a high class bar. I went. The people that were jerks before were jerks again. A couple nice people showed up, but that was it. We have to dress up in a gown because it's semi-formal or formal, I forget which. I had a nice time because the two nice people showed up. Otherwise it would have been awful. The food was good. I left before anyone got drunk and acted too stupid. It was nice to see some people again, but I was hoping my best friends would go and not one person I hung out with in high school went. So the next reunion, I didn't go.
My brother's class has a nice reunion. It's two days long. Includes a beach party and a picnic as well as volley ball. That would be more fun, more money, but more fun.
And yours?

writersedge (4493) | 1 year ago | You're not just amusing, you're very intelligent. I love the way you crafted your question. Sometimes I get too tired, lazy, or just run out of thoughts to write a question well.
I like the way you sidestepped the question, and yours?
Did you finish High School? My Dad didn't. He was actually smarter than a lot of people who did, but he had a moderate learning disability. So if you did graduate, cool; if you didn't, that's fine too. There have been multi-millionares and geniuses that never did.
I think you will be a very interesting friend here.
Did you have a lot of sisters? Or date a lot of women and have the ability to put yourself in our place? My husband had a lot of sisters and female cousins. He has the ability to think along the lines of a lot of females.
10 year reunion, I wore my dress from my Prom and I fit in it better than when I was in high school and I looked better, too. Only one other person there looked better and she was an aerobics instructor. I did have a little fun with the couple of nice people that showed up, and my cousin and her husband did dance with me. Also the food at the swank place was good. It was disappointing, but not a total bust.

fjaril (4608) | 1 year ago | I don't know about intelligent exactly, but I have been around the track a few times and I watched carefully as I took all the curves.. it pays to understand and learn about them too, you know.
I am glad you had fun, you gorgeous young chick you!! Sorry it was disappointing, but that for me would already be a given. Sigh!
As to your question about women.. my mother was one, and did I ever learn alot there!! Wooow!! I learned that equality was a precious word for women and that getting it was a struggle and a purpose in life and a sword in the side of any man in the nearby who didn’t understand the importance. She was perhaps my greatest and most intense teacher and, man, I paid attention!!
I learned from my little dying sister back when that there is a compassion and sensitivity and survival instinct so strong in a girl hat it makes a grown man cry and until he can, he really isn’t a man good enough for a woman.
I learned from working with many elderly woman and their men that life was worth the living because of the companionship. Women learned to live it alone and men pined after the lost love of a woman and often faded.
I was once in a whirlwind relationship with the most gorgeous siren that Greek mythology could have imagined! And she twisted me inside out and hung me to dry and rot and I learned respect and caution when dealing with incredible female beauty.
AND my darling daughter was my greatest privilege in life, that we became so close that she shared her wishes and incredible wisdom intelligence, tolerance, and childhood and still now, her adulthood too, the inner thoughts of a woman felt in the heart of a dad.. How blessed I am!
And now, I know and cherish this knowledge that women are the most precious commodity! My wife is to me my 'be and end all'. And what was the question again??
Lol

writersedge (4493) | 1 year ago | WOW! How does a person respond to all that? That's incredible!
I'm sorry about your dying sister.
Sounds like you were priviledged to have some wonderful and strong women in your life. That's the only kind to have around. I think you're right on all counts, but I'm not sure if I would do well if my husband died first. Not sure how he would do without me, but I don't think he would cook more than one day a week.
Because of your attitude and understanding, I'm sure they find it a priviledge to be around you as much as you to be around them. Huh? What did I say? I'm all mixed up now! I think you know what I mean. We need more men like you and fewer like some of the ones that are out there.
Luckily, my husband is like you. Not like the other ones. Peace and take care
