one thing i've learned form my psychology class is that there's no such thing as love at first sight. according to robert sternberg, what we think of as love at first sight is merely infatuation which only involves overwhelming passion without intimacy and commitment.

I don't believe in love at first sight! I think it is better put as admiration at first sight (Not lust please!ha!ha!ha!) It is impossible for me to fall in love with someone I don't even know that much yet. I admit there were some guys I do admire at first glance but for me to fall in love without getting consistent interaction with them yet and without knowing yet what kind of person he is. I can't be in love with someone without knowing him well yet. To me, love is something that develops out of constant companionship... something that starts with good relationship then blossoms into a higher degree that is called love.

Good point. Admire at first sight is a better suggestion, although i cant edit my discussion title anymore. Hehehehehehe. But although i dont judge stories of "love at first sight", i must agree with you that it is quite impossible (i dont know any other word to describe it) for me to fall in love the first time i see someone.

oh yes there is such a thing, when I was was a very young girl I saw a man on TV singing, I think I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him, I thought about him for years never thinking i had a chance, I went to many of his gigs, I had a few relationships but eveyone of them knew that if I had a chance with this guy I would there in a flash, this man never got married and neither did I, years later he made a come back and I went to a few gigs and he started coming up and sitting with me and my friends, then one day he rang me up, I had the pleasure of being in his company for 18 glorius months but he wasn't well, one morning he passed away in my arms...I believe i meant to be there for him even if it was just for 18 months today I work on my webpage which is a tribute to him and his music and my feelings for him....yes you can see someone and something magical happens.. maybe its rare but it happens...
