Have you ever gotten lost when you were a kid while out with your parents? |
| |
| I have when I was out shopping with my dad and his wife. I was 4 and we were in a shopping center in Singapore. I was so fascinated by this doll I saw which was displayed in a window in one of the stores, that I let go of my dad's hand and went into the store. It took awhile before I realized that I had wandered away from my dad. I started to cry and I remember the lady at the store rushed me to the receptionist's desk at the shopping center and paged my dad. I was so relieved when I saw my dad coming towards me. How about you? Have you ever gotten lost when you were small while out with your parents? | | mall | | | | |

| | I didn't personally get lost when I was younger, but my two little brothers did. We were all at Kings Dominion for the day. They were supposed to be in one area at a certain time. I was with my parents. We waited at the spot for a long time. We began searching all over the park for them. It turned out that they had gone to on the of the lost children buildings. | | | | | | |

| | You're really lucky that you never got lost because it really is a scary experience when it happens. I think most kids wander off and get lost, but the danger of it is if we get caught to the wrong people we may never see our parents again. Thankfully that never happened to your brothers or me. My heart goes out to all those children who have not been as fortunate as us. | | | |

| | Oh yes, I remember losing my Mom when I was younger... we were in some kind of flea market if I remember rightly, and I think I also became distracted by something that caught my easily-distracted eye. I remember realizing that I was alone without my Mom, and it was very overwhelming & scary being so young & helpless. But once I saw my Mom running through the crowd to come & get me, it was all forgotten & I felt so much better! | | | |

| | YEs. I was with my mother that time and we are in the public market buying food for dinner. As kid of course its normal that we are always had our eyes looking around. I was holding the hand of my mother and just a second i stop holding her hand and then hold it again..i thought it was still my mothers hand and when i was looking to her she is not my mother. I start to panic and very nervous. I look around and there are a lot of people there and i never see my mother. I cried so loud and shout for her name..haha..that time my mother was looking on me also..Asking for the people there if they say a child wearing black short and red slippers and white tshirt..It was good because the lady told her that i was in the corner of the fish area crying..haha..I was happy when my mother found me....That was the first and the last that was lost with my parents...lol | | | | | | |

| | Oh yeah. I think as kids we only see a little of what's going on around us. So when I was younger I only look for khaki pants because that's what my dad wears. And sometimes I get lost because my attention wanders to something then when I look for a pair of khaki pants, it belongs to someone else! Of course having realized that I've lost my daddy I'll start to cry and eventually my dad would find me. It's a good thing that he's keeping an eye out for me! :) | | | | | | |

| | You're right, it's a good thing our dads and moms keep an eye on us. Just as we start panicking and crying when we get lost, I'm sure our parents panic too. When I got a little older I use to always make sure I remembered what color clothing my dad wore so that if I get lost, I would always be able to tell the security or the receptionist at the desk what he looked like. | | | |

| | once i went with my aunt to the market and there i liked a bicycle but was told that i cannot have it as i was young. so i was very dishearted and while she was talking to a salesperson, i went off and i knew the way home and i reached home too. i was 5-6 years old and the place was some 3 kms away and i used to come with my aunt to that place for shopping. so i reached home and then my aunt came home after 30 mins or so and she was very worried and thought that i was lost or someone had picked me up. when she found me at home, she was shocked and then i was shocked. so stupid i was, if i had been actually lost then. silly of me. thank god. good luck | | | | | | |

| | yes I did once get lost but that was luckily because I fell asleep on the bus while returning from the school and my stop was the last one, The helper and the driver didn't spot me as I was so smal that I fitted nicely on the two seeater seat. They could not even see my shoes then. They simply thought I had left early or with the parent. When the bus reached its depot I woke up and was really really scared , this I remember because they took me to their canteen and even offered me an icecream and some sweets which I would have liked to have if I was not scared. The incident still is very clear in my mind. Then both of them came back and dropped me off to my home. Now when I look back I still think how nice they were to me and how much I had cried that day in the canteen. | | | | | | |

| | Your really lucky that the driver and helper were so kind. I know how you felt because I too cried alot out of fear for I did not know whether I'd see my dad again. But it's a good thing that nothing bad happened to us. | | | |

| | I got lost in a mall twice. But i was big enough not to be afraid and handle the situation. Daddy has always taught me to be strong and be brave. One sunday, my parents took me and my little sister to a mall. The last time I saw them was when we were at the toys section of the said mall. I decided to go alone to the Barbie dolls section. I was amazed to see thosecolorful dolls displayed. after a while, i returned to the place where i last saw them. but they already left the area. i never knew i was lost. i checked every rows of the toy section but still, i could not find them. i decided to go farther to look for them. while walking into the cashier, i bumped into a fat lady and i asked her if she knew where my mommy was. i described to her the type of clothes she was wearing. good thing that the good samaritan took me to the customer service located downstairs and paged for my dad. | | I only got lost once and that really was a scary experience. We're fortunate that we had someone to help us get back to our parents because not all children who wander off and get lost have been as lucky as us. | | | |

| | Fortunately no. See when I was young and the whole family went out shopping, I always observed or sort of surveyed the area and I mentally took a picture of easily recognizable stores so if I ever got lost, I can find my way back. Otherwise if the task seems daunting, I'll make sure I stuck closely to my mommy or daddy or my older sister. It was usually my older brother who got lost most of the time because he likes to wander. | | | | | | |

| | My eldest brother was just like you. He was not one to wander off anywhere when we went out with my dad, but it was different with my other brother and me. Somehow we just could not stay in one place. | | | |

| | I remember my dad too was a bit angry with me. He told me sternly not to wander off again. I think it's normal for parents to get angry when we get them worried. Even I have the habit of doing the same thing when my children do something that gives me a good scare. | | | |
