Have you started setting up a Christmas Tree? |
|
If not, when do you intend to set-up your chrismas tree and decors?I asked because yesterday, my mother-in-law already set-up her christmas tree. Its not that eye-striking and big christmas tree. Just the small one placed on top of the center table. It was already complete with decors and christmas lights. Really, I found it over-acting (locally, its "O.A"!) to have one at this early. I know Filipinos do like to exaggerate and during BER months we already feel the christmas spirit. Good thing, my baby was very, very amazed with the decors and the lights. He keeps on staring and smiling at it that I have decided to keep my comment to myself.

We set the christmastree up in the livingroom the night before christmas - the 23.12. We usually keep it until 13 or 20 days after christmas eve. My man loves christmas a lot and will always try to keep it longer. His dads birthday is feb 4th - he'd like to keep it until then. It's a no go from me. A couple of weeks is fine, but it is also quite enough for me.

3. sandymay16 (1330) | 1 year ago | It's still too early for me and it will clash with the things you will put up during halloween. And it would gather dusts too because there's dust everywhere especially in a hot and humid country. I think I'll put up a Christmas tree on the first week of December by that time there will be no more festivals and other activities just Christmas to think of.

5. spoiledbrat802 (3595) | 1 year ago | We usually setup Christmas decors after All Saints Day. I know a lot of Pinoys do it earlier and some actually do it the minute we get into the "-ber" months. But in my family, we've always set up Christmas decorations around mid-November (sometimes even around the first week of December) - out of respect for our dead relatives. We want to commemorate All Saints Day first before we get into Christmas-mode. I know a lot of Pinoys are in an early celebratory mood, but it gets ridiculous sometimes (like hearing Christmas songs IN September!), and having a prolonged Christmas celebration takes away from the real significance of this Christian holiday.

mitziverde (617) | 1 year ago | Hi ahgong. Since you're not from the Philippines, let me tell you how excited the Filipinos are. Well, of course not all. But just last weekend, I've been to two biggest shopping malls in Quezon City, and all the songs so would hear at the entrance of the mall are christmas songs. And to add to that, you can see christmas trees and decors all over!
Well, okay, there's a small portion, space, and area for the halloween costumes they're selling but its just that. Christmas spirit is somehow already staring to spread here in the Philippines, even if the Halloween is not yet here.

ahgong (3852) | 1 year ago | ha ha ha ha ha.... that being the case, then enjoy the early festivities then. Here where I am, the shops usually only starts to sell festive stuff one, to two months before the actual festive date. For the bigger festivals like Christmas and Chinese new year, it is most of the time two months ahead.
To have it one full quarter ahead is very rare. So... should I be wishing you an early christmas already?
Festivals are fun. There is so many opportunity to take pictures. Maybe you can try taking more pictures and posting them here. One, you can boost your earnings from those pictures. Two, you can start topics with those pictures. Win-win situation!

7. gracetreyes (288) | 1 year ago | Oh well mitz, I do not have a christmas tree to set.(lol). I am not the kind of person who decorate my house with occasional decorations. I just keep it simple though. What i prefer during this seasons are foods and gifts for my "inaanak " ( Godchildren ). Although I am thinking not to buy gifts this time, but just give the money so they can save it and use it for some more practical reason. But still depends on the child. I will maybe categorize them. There are children who needs money more than toys. But there are those who loves to receive gifts instead of money. Anyway Advance merry christmas to you,and your family. Hope that inspite of all the odds right now, we can still have a very merry christmas...

8. CinderInMySoul (4362) | 1 year ago | wow, thats really early!! we dont even consider putting up the tree and decorations until after Thanksgiving! usually no later than the first weekend of December. and then it stays up until the weekend after New Years.
the stores around here already have all the xmas stuff out. im sure not all of it, but quite a bit! i find it really annoying when they have stuff out for the next holiday when the one coming up first hasnt even gotten here yet!

9. hellcord (368) | 1 year ago | Sure, why not, I mean there's only a whole MONTH left, but I say do it even earlier. Nothing like a summer Xmas tree:D
In any case, good topic, just remembered, must make sure to plan everything so I can setup my Xmas tree together with my brother, at the family house, like we used to do in the good years before:)
You form a habit of doing something together with the family year after year, then if you 'change the rules' one year something's missing and feels off. Here's to consistency in Xmas, and getting back in formation to setup the tree, year after year:)

10. Greeneagle24 (3720) | 1 year ago | Well, in the Philippines, Christmas season always starts in September and ends in January or February. it's really nice that Filpinos have long celebration of christmas season. it gives them chances for redemption, and rebirth of their Kindness to love ones and enemies.
