Do you like your wedding band...

That is wonderful, now I wanted to ask did he propose before this or is it something you both agreed to get married and buy bands together?

I haven't kept up with the trends of wedding bands sad to say. So does the engagement ring go with the wedding band? or did you buy separate?

hahaha yes i think there's a trend. when we got married the in thing was the two-tone simple band. white and yellow gold. except when you're rich and opt to buy the expensive platinum. i think in the past, the bands were just yellow gold. i've noticed nowadays that the bands are not the same but similar. the female band usually has stones and the male does not. but sometimes both have stone but i feel that this is quite ostentatious. my engagement ring was my mother-in-law's. but it was not her engagement ring. it was her diamond ring that she kept for when her son proposes to me.

Same thing here my ring is a simple band and the wedding band had a diamond in it but I lost it. My husband wanted to get me new bands but I heard this talkshow lady say once that she would never trade the band she got married in. I thought it was really sweet. I put a cubic zirconian on the ring and kept it. The way the stone sits on the ring most likely makes it fall off because it's done it again. I do alot of things around the house so it's not sensible to get another one. My husband doesn't wear his band either. He works in maintenance and it could get caught in the conveyer belts, etc. When we go out he wears it around his neck. The ring fits him big now because he lost a hundred pounds so the ring cannot get sized. Maybe one day we will get new bands or melt our old ones down to make new ones.

Onlydia I think I would tell my husband I wouldn't want a divorce either because I love him still, so maybe he loves you too? I think it's nice that you guys remained friends though. Does he live nearby? Is he with anyone else?

He lives in a different state. And yes he is with someone else. Thank goodness. As it turns out the woman he found that would put up with him was a old roommate of mine. She never knew that we were married as she moved to Texas and I had moved back to MN. We were roommates in South Dakota. She left I left then I went back. And met and married my husband. After 5 year's of yelling and alway's trying to pay everything. I kicked him out. He never beat me but was mentally cruel. He learned that he couldn't do that. But come to find out he still misses me. I do not miss the smoking of tweed. so yeah I don't miss that. Your friend onlydia

So do you still love him or like you mentioned in another discussion that you have a BIG in your life? It's sad when things don't work out. In a way it's good that he is far away so you don't have to wonder what to expect out of the relationship you do have.

No I do not Love him like a husband. I care about him and the rest of the family. We are like one big family. My brother inlaws come here to visit and all that fun stuff. My Father inlaw is the best. I have seen some nice rings at the pawn shop. I wouldn't mind getting a set like some of them. I just remembered that my husband gave me like a promise ring before we became engaged. I don't know where I put it because a few weeks ago my finger got slammed and hurt really bad so I took it off, I better look for it.

I would love to get wedding bands that we both decide on together. Right now I don't see a purpose in doing it. I do alot of housework and my hands look awful. My husband works in maintenance so he wouldn't wear his band anyway. It would be a nice gift to give each other in your upcoming years together. How long have you been together?

It sounds like something I think would look really pretty. Now do you believe in the bigger the better when it comes to rings? Did you put some kind of imput as to how much he should spend or left it open?

No, definitely not. I think the large stones in my ring are 1 carat and that's absolutely enough. When we looked at rings I was actually quite surprised how often I would find one I really like and look at the tag to see a price of only $500! In a sea of rings that cost a small fortune I was amazed that I was drawn to the "low end" stuff. I have long fingers so I think that smaller rings look better on my hand; I saw a 2 carat version of my ring and it was just way to big and bulky. I don't know the exact cost of mine, it isn't important to me and I left it up to my fiance. I would guess a little over $1000. I think that I would be too nervous to have anything super expensive, I would be terrified of losing it! The band is around $400 and I think that I will pay for both mine and his.

That is the problem when the ring is too expensive you kind of get scared of wearing it.

I would want one too on an anniversary. So you say he spent alot of money on your ring? I had a friend once who told her husband she wanted a new wedding band and she told him no less than $10,000. I couldn't believe her my band cost under $200.00 she didn't care she said she was worth it and he better do it. Later one in the years that followed he died in an accident. I never found out if she got her band.

So you are like my husband huh?Just kidding. Sometimes the soap that could get in the ring makes it look all dull looking. I know my mother in law once used a cleaner that messed up her jewelery. She always wears real gold but I don't know what she used that changed the color of the gold.
