If after responding to an comment, are we allowed to say Thank You? |
|
I have been responding to many comments that members have made to my discussions. I have said, "Thanks for responding" or "thanks for your comment"... Is this a violation of myLot??? When I read the FAQ's myLot stated that we were not supposed to say thank you after someone responded to an discussion that we have made.. Please clarify this??? I know that I have done this many times.. Is this wrong??? I thought that it was okay to say thank you for responding, but it looks like myLot does not accept this. So, what is the right thing here? Thanks for all your replies..

1. zukepr (11799) | 1 year ago | It is my understanding of the rules that its against the rules to thank EVERYONE who responds which I interpret to mean that you cannot comment back to everyone with a simple thank you I usually try to find some other comment to make to a responder without saying thank you but if I cant think of anything i simply dont say anything at all

cream97 (9031) | 1 year ago | Yes, you are right..When I say thank you, I will just make an comment, then, I will just say thank you at the end of the sentence, is that still unacceptable?
| |
|
|
zukepr (11799) | 1 year ago | I think itsok as long as there is at least 1 response that you dont say anything to (just to be safe)LOL

2. ronaldinu (7779) | 1 year ago | No it's useless to do it. It's in the guidelines. It's one of the dont's. So I would not risk it to go against the rules.

cream97 (9031) | 1 year ago | Me neither... Just saying thank you, just alone is a violation..

3. myklj999 (7262) | 1 year ago | If you don't have something of substance to add to the discussion, you are not supposed to post anything. myLot would like for us to make our posts comprehensive; they prefer detail in responses. Simply saying thank you or thanks for responding doesn't really add anything to the discussion.
| |
| |
|
|
cream97 (9031) | 1 year ago | It doesn't... But, if you have a statement to go along with your response, will that still make it as an violation?
| |
|
|
myklj999 (7262) | 1 year ago | there is nothing wrong with saying "thank you" as part of a response, as long as it is not the whole response.

4. relundad (1581) | 1 year ago | I have intrepreted that to mean that you should not just reply "Thank You" as a one-liner. In other words your response should be of substance and pertinent to the discussion, which is what makes it a discussion. Some people have a "blanket" thank you for each and every response.
I think your thank you's are more in line with just being polite and a part of your reply.

cream97 (9031) | 1 year ago | Yes, I thought so too.. My thank you's are my way of appreciating the member for responding to my discussion.. But, I have seen an user just the other day, make an comment, and he said thank you for responding on every comment that he had.. He did not make an statement or anything, all he left to his post was, thank you for responding... I think that is what myLot is against.. So, with my discussions, I will just respond with an statement, and then say thank you... Is this still unacceptable..

flagella08 (1768) | 1 year ago | i went over all the posts about saying thank you and all these made me think that they're all right. some of us cat help ourselves to express how thnkful we are top those people who responded to our posts especially when their posts help us in making our lives better. maybe we just need to rephrase that.

6. moondancer (2948) | 1 year ago | I have read and heard this also. But I was raised to always say thank you to someone when they took time to acknowledge me. I do try to offer more and not just say thank you when writing back in hopes that this would make it not be against the rule.

8. photographygirl73 (1982) | 1 year ago | I think that if you respond with a simple "thank you" to someone's reply to your discussion then yes it is against the My Lot rules. But if after commenting on their replies if you want to add a thank you then thats okay.

9. gitfiddleplayer (5481) | 1 year ago | Thank you is just too general. You could say thank you for responding to my discussion or something along those lines. Thank you is too easy, add a few lines so that it shows you're reading the responses.
| |
| |
|
|
cream97 (9031) | 1 year ago | Yes, that is true.. I usually will say, thank you for responding.. But, most of the times, there is a comment in front of my post, then the general thank you at the end of the statement.
