I can't believe they knocked on my door - ISN'T THIS RACIST?????

I can't BELIEVE they knocked on my door and asked if I was Mrs. Rodriguez??? Who? I said... That is my oldest son's last name. (pause)They replied, "Oh well is he here"? Me, kind of aggravated, smirking but polite, "No, he hasn't been since 2000."(pause she chuckles pause) "Oh well we got this address from public record and..." I interrupted, "So you are canvasing by names... Like these?" (awkward pause)Well, yes we are(a nervous laugh after my head shake)and I picked up your paper, they hurry off.
WHO ARE THEY YOU ASK... a woman and man team of democrats!! They picked my house because county public records had a "Rodriguez" listed as living here - WTF IS THAT?
I can't believe when asked if they were targeting voters "by their name" they said YES!! Can you believe that?? Isn't that RACIAL PROFILING??? Isn't that MINORITY PROFILING??? ISN'T THAT RACIST?????
I am outraged!

Looking at the statistics minorities do have the lowest voting numbers, so I don't see anything wrong with going out to those minorities and seeing if they are voting and talking to them about it if they are not. Honestly, I'm a bit offended that the Republicans don't care enough about all the voters to be out there helping the ones who might need help the most.

Yes, that's weird - but the democrats are trying to encourage all minorities to vote for their candidate since they are so many undecided voters and there are only 2 weeks left before voting day. If you feel you were violated in some way though I would call the democrat's local campaign office and complain.

I wouldn't really say it's racist but it is awfully odd! How can they tell other minorities if they don't have an "ethnic" last name? Strange! Smith and Jones and Green , etc can be Hispanic too!

It seems that during an electoral campaign, any party tries to win the greates number of votes. Every votes count. That's why they target minorities in particular. © ronaldinu 2008

When you hear in the Press that they are going after the mexican vote or the italian vote, etc. how do you think they do that. There has got to be sosme way to identify people. When this happens to me I always tell them something outragious. It's usually the church people so I tell them I'm a witch, then they leave me alone.

Hey I'm a church person and I'm not going after any votes! And I'm not a racist either. My first husband was Hispanic, born in PR, a republican voter. I don't think all Hispanic Americans are democrats or could be persuaded to vote that way... I think it was outrageous and racist that they said yes when asked if were targeting people by their names!

I find it amazing that just because you might have the last name of Rodriguez, they would assume that your not a Republican!
