Is Nikon the best?

Hi, I have held both Nikons and Canons but what I do have is a Nikon and that is what my family has also. What I can say is that you can't go wrong with either a Nikon or a Canon DSLR. Both are good brands with good quality. They say that the debate over which camera is better will never end because both are good makers. In the end it all boils down to the preference of the person. For me I like Nikon because we have been using Nikon since the 1990's. And I've grown to be a Nikonian. But I used Canon 40d of my friend and still I was amazed. But i'm sticking to Nikon

One thing I can suggest is that you would buy the camera which you or you would know more to maximize it.

well thats nice, but i think you should get either canon or sony alpha those work more nice and speedly and they have more simplized way of photography so it gives yu an ease to handle and stuff

Which ever you choose you will get good results. I have a Canon because I feel that it is slightly better for actions sports and that is my primary focus. If you are going to take general shots and family photos either will be a great camera. I would suggest that you check out www.dpreview.com and see what they have to say about the cameras. You will find that they are both considered the top in the industry. This applies if you are going to buy a professional DSLR or a small carry around point and shoot. Check on the feel and ease of use.

Both are great brands. But it is really up to the individual preferences and also depends on your photography "mode". As for an example, if you love to take a landscape photo, there is camera suitable for that.

Personally, I chose Nikon. And I going to buy one real soon.;)

This week i bought a Sony Alpha 700 for mt=y wife and updated my Canon 20D to the 50D. There is really more difference between one model and another within the same range than between brands... for instance, I like using the Nikon 200/300 and the D60 is quite a nice unit, but I wouldn't buy a D40 or the new D90. Likewise, the Alpha 700 and 900 series are great, but I wouldn't want a 350.

I have had a brief fling with the Pentax K10 when a pro friend of mine traded in his Nikon kit to buy one when it was first released (impressive, since he was on the Nikon review and publicity team!) but didn't think it matched up to my Canon gear, and last week when my wife tried the K20 she found it too bulky for her. She loved the Olympus E520, but set it aside because, like most cameras in this list, it had a max shooting speed of 3 frames per second, much lower than the camera she was moving on from.

So... it isn't a choice between Nikon and Canon. It is a search to ind the camera that has the specifications you value in a body that fits your hand and shooting style; one that has the control laid out the way you like them and which is within your budget.

ALL of the major brands make very fine cameras: do not limit yourself to just the top two.

it doesn't matter if you go nikon or canon. both are good, japan made. but nikon is cheaper. i have nikon d60. its ergonomically designed and user friendly. there are videos that showcases the features and specs, also sample demonstration. maybe it'll help you decide. good luck.;)

5months ago i heard lot of friends say me the same thing: canon are the best!!!...
today i'm using a nikon reflex and i think that it's very good and i've done the right choice....infact nikon has great colors and different options!!!...but if you have got not a lot of money and you are intrested in more points of view,instead of the colors, so canon is better; canon infact has more points of view than nikon and the lens are cheaper than nikon, so if you want a new lens you can find it easily and you spare money!!!
