Flavored Coffee... Or Just Scented? What Do You Think?  

I really am not a coffee drinker, although i do enjoy a good cappichino. I love it. Although my husband drinks coffee, and I love the aroma from it. He doesnt' drink any gourmet coffees, I bought him some one time, but he never touched them lol. I actually think they're still sitting in our cabinet hoping for the day to let their wonderful aroma out into the world, but that won't happen lol. He is much more of a Foldgers Man.

I really hope that you find one that you like and has a great smell too. What all different kinds have you tried. I think that Gevelia is a gourmet coffee that is suppossed to be really good, i think that is the one that I bought for my husband that he has yet to drink lol. Let us all know how it goes. I love flavored coffee. I always add flavored cream in as well such as Vanilla. I know adding cream may defeat the purpose of having flavored coffee. It's delicious this way so give it a try.

Oh Katie I am a coffee lover! I hear what you are saying about aroma vs taste. I'm not sure how the do the flavoring. I can tell you this though, the best way to drink flavored coffee is to add the flavor yourself. You can find liquid flavors like irish creme, vanilla or hazelnut. If you don't drink black coffee, like I do, then try the flavored creamers, they're really good. I like to brew a strong pot and add some cinnamon and chocolate shavings... Yummy

I do think coffee is bitter if it is steeped too long. It is as if it is burned. My mother was in an automobile accident that effected her pallot. Things tasted weird to her. Coffee was one of her favorite things and it began to taste and smell bitter to her. Very sad. If it always tastes bitter to you why do you keep trying more?

Hi Katie I'm not a coffee drinker at all except for the odd Iced Cap once in a while!
I'm more of a tea drinker and I have actually been thinking of trying some of those flavored teas that sound so yummy like Raspberry and Strawberry but maybe that is not such a wonderful idea if they are anything like the coffee!

Yeah it really is flavored. I always drink flavored coffee and every flavor tastes very different to me, even the different brands have a huge difference in how they taste. My fave flave is vanilla. I have never had blueberry though, sounds gross. Coffee is just one of those things that you either love or hate. Maybe coffee just isnt your thing. The best thing to do with coffee is to use whip cream as creamer. It is sooo sweet and yummy. I always pile a bunch on top too.

hi there. there is actually flavored coffee. like mint. i love coffee. in starbucks you have different coffee flavors. it reminds me to grab some.

I completely agree with you, katiedoubleu. I do not like flavored coffees for the same reason. Bitter!

And like you, I LOVE the smell, but that's all I want. Give me a nice cup of regular roast and I will be happy.

My husband actually likes his coffee to be a bit bitter. But he doesn't like the flavored. Just strong, bold and bitter.

If you need less bitter coffee, there are some choices. There's an instant - Kava - that has no bitterness at all. And there are ground coffees made by some of the major coffee manufacturing companies that are rather good.

I prefer using one of these ground coffees with less bitterness, then adding flavor in my coffee cream. My favorite choice used to be chocolate raspberry, but it is only available in California now, according to the manufacturer.

I also love the aroma of brewing coffee. When I lived in Florida, there was a small gift store where I could get some awesome coffees. The favorite in Florida was orange coffee. Those two smells combined is fantastic.
