I've been told once that while brushing your teeth is absolutely essential, you should also brush your tongue. I have no idea if that is true but just in case I've been doing that too now, My girlfriend doesn't complain so I can't really note any difference lol

I have tried the herbs for a sour mouth, and am glad to learn about the other things that help. East Indians use cardamin seed to help it also sweetens the stomach which is often the cause of bad breath. They just suck on the seed, shell and all then when it's really soft they spit it out. At least that's how I was taught.
