What Justification is There to Let Private Organizations Register People to Vote  email this discussion to a friend?

"Deputy Registrars" are people authorized to register people to vote. They often get paid by the registration and the groups that employ them often impose quotas on them.

Why on earth is this even allowed to happen? How does it even make rational sense to let just anyone go around registering people to vote? When a voter registers with one of these "deputies" they are eligible to vote... even if they have no legal right to vote.

Many of these "deputies" turn out to be people not eligible to vote themselves, which is illegal. Of course, the liars who run these organizations deny knowledge, but they were the ones that hired the people and vouched for the person when the person became a "deputy".

This practice has no business in our elections and no honest or ethical person would take part in such anti democratic bullcrap.

I'm beginning to think that no one who has not enough interest to get themselves down to register should be encourged to do so. Ban these voter registration outfits as they are encouraging mostly the apathetic and ill informed to vote.

With all respect due, that's still only an opinion no matter whether I share it or not. Question is HOW do you desestablish such an institution? I totally disagree with most of the outsourcing going on, including the franchising of so much of our government's functions.
