Hey! I would wondering if i could get a little advice! Im currently in the process of inventing a dish and, although i know herbs quite well, i have no idea about spices!

Basically im looking a spice (or spices) that will give a mild kick to a dish, like enhance the flavours, while also complimenting the sweetness.

I plan to have a fruit sauce made of lemon and pineapple mixed in with the chicken and vegetables.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I was thinking tumeric, and someone also mensioned tamarind but i dont know what that is lol.

Thanks for any help! x

Maybe give it a little Mexican flair by adding a dash of chili powder?
Chili power is actually a blend of dried powdered chilis, oregano and cumin..
You could also try a little crushed red pepper and garlic powder..
Sometimes half the fun of cooking is experiementing with different ideas and flavors..
I find it interesting how sometimes things that sound weird together acutally taste really good..
Your dish sounds like a sweet and sour one so a little bit of heat would probably compliment it nicely!!

Hope it turns out great!

Fab! Thanks for the advice! Im always a little nervous about spices as im really sensitive to them, even plain old table pepper! But if i want to take my cooking further, i have to learn to use them, its not all about burning your mouth on and i feel like im missing out on some great flavours.

Thanks again <3

Tamarind is a kind of fruit which is sour but has little bit of sweet flavor. It is a replacement for lime juice because it is not so zesty. I reckon that you can buy it from Asian market. As for your dish maybe you can add in a little bit of paprika or maybe some saffron instead of turmeric. You will get a richer color and it tastes great. By the way, good luck with your dish.

Thankyou for your comment! I havn't had time to get some new spices and used the tumeric and tamarind, which was lovely but deffinatly didnt have the kick i was after. The Meal was gorgous but im deffinatly going to try adding paprika/saffron (as well as ideas from the adive comment)

Thankyou! <3 <3
