I counted down the days for atleast a month until it finally came out on DVD, then I sent my man out to get it as soon as it released! I guess I had it so built up in my mind that I thought it was gonna be the movie of the year! Um...Not...I liked it..didn't love it..I would give it a 7 out of a 10. Have any of you seen it? Do tell...and BTW...this is my 2nd try at posting this, the 1st time I lost my connection, so I am not too sure if it went thru, so I apologize if it is a duplicate! Thanks!

I haven't seen it yet but Netflix says it's on the way. I'm guessing I'll get it today. The previews look creepy! And I've been meaning to lookin into some background information since they say it's based on a true story. It should be interesting.

Wow!! Being that it is based on a true story, it is worth watching! It seems more interesting than the Blair Witch Project. I have seen this, and I just could not get into this film at all. sad

Sorry for the lost connection.. No, I have not seen this movie yet. I have seen numerous recaps of what the movie will look like on commercials. I was looking forward to seeing it. I am so sure not as much now.. You said it was a 7 out of a 10. I wonder if I will like it too. I hope that it is as scary as it seems. Scary movies are my favorite to watch!happy

I don't want to spoil the movie for you at all, but in my taste, I like more blood & stuff...it has a lot of terror in it, so you probably will like it! Don't let me scare you away, by all means, watch it & enjoy...I think it would be better with no lights on...I was very tired and have been sick, plus we watched it with all of the lights on...So...ENJOY!

I looked forward to this one too and also had the other half run down to pick it up yesterday. I thought that it was genuinely scary for the first three quarters... and then completely fell apart at the end. So,*SPOILER* these sickos went to all the trouble of trapping these people and messing with them to give them a few little stabs and then take off? Also, since it's "inspired by true events", which means that is doesn't quite qualify as "based on a true story", I wonder what the "inspiration" was and now much the movie actually relates to it. Anyone know what it was "inspired" by? It said that it happened in 2005.

myLot reputation of 93/100. mibngold (1525)   ranked 592 out of 11,431 in watching movies  1 year ago

Exactly...Who told the story to begin with...what happened to Liv Tyler's character...I guess they can say that just about anything is inspired by true events...I still liked the movie anyway...Same thing rings true with Texas Chainsaw Massacre, don't you think?

myLot reputation of 97/100. jesssp (1255)   ranked 475 out of 11,431 in watching movies  1 year ago

I went digging! Apparently when the director was a kid someone knocked on their door and asked for someone who didn't live there. They later found out that the empty houses on the street were broken into. So there ya go, that's the "true events", someone knocking on the door and asking for someone who didn't live there. Only in the movie it was so they could terrorize them and in actuallity it was just to see who they could rob.

I was thinking of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" too. I remember arguing with a friend when the new one came out that it wasn't a true story. He thought that the "police footage" in the beginning was real. The only part of the movie that was based on anything was the skin mask he wore. Ed Gein (Gien?) killed people and made stuff from their skin - end of "true" story.

I was waiting for this movie release on DVd for a while. And can say that it was Scary!!! I didnt like the idea being home alone so it caught me more. Plus it is based on a true story made it more scary but still at the end i didnt like the movie much. And as usual scary movies ends suck! So does this movie!

myLot reputation of 93/100. mibngold (1525)   ranked 592 out of 11,431 in watching movies  1 year ago

I have to agree with you, I swear i was actually doing a countdown until its release date, I could not wait to see it & I just knew I would be disappointed. I actually liked "No Country For Old Men" so much better and that is not something I would typically rent..but I rented it 3 times already!

I love No country for old men, And I've seen that movie already 4 times too. And i can easily say that i don't even compare this movie with No country for old men:) Ty

The Strangers is a great film. It's a lot more realistic than any slasher/suspense films i've watched. I thought it's another movie where the lead star will survive and lived to tell the tale but i was wrong. Liv died and died in a horrific way. A simple stab and that's it. She wasn't chopped or beheaded but that stabbing scene was kind of disturbing.

myLot reputation of 93/100. mibngold (1525)   ranked 592 out of 11,431 in watching movies  1 year ago

Morning There...Was Liv dead for sure? It appeared to all of us that she may not have been. I liked it, but I wouldn't watch it again...and I am one of those people who watch 7 re-watch movies a zillion times. My friend keeps bugging me to get "An American Crime" but they don't carry it at my video store..ya seen that one?

myLot reputation of 96/100. modstar (4961)   ranked 281 out of 11,431 in watching movies  1 year ago

Haven't seen An American Crime yet but i'm looking forward for The Strangers' sequel hehehe.. I've seen Saw V. Not really as brutal as it's previous parts but equally entertaining.

Hello mibngold. I have not seen this movie, but I am glad that you have finally got it with the help of your man. So what does this movie talk about, friend?

myLot reputation of 93/100. mibngold (1525)   ranked 592 out of 11,431 in watching movies  1 year ago

Hi, it would be easier for you to look it upon IMDB, that is the movie gospel. Wait, I thought that you & I were talking about "An American Crime"..how did we get back to "The Strangers?" I would give the Strangers about a 7 out of 10 and I seriously wish that I had never seen "An American Crime" Especially since it is a true story & it was just so disturbing. I don't get upset with crime/murder/mystery stuff, I actually watch quite a bit of it, but this movie was just horrible. Frightening what really happens in America...behind closed doors!

I intended to PM you this morning & ask you to tell me a bit about yourself, so would you do that for me?
Oh & good morning to you!

I just watched it a few weeks ago on TV and I'd actually just posted a discussion in which I mentioned "The Strangers". Actually, my discussion is about movies with strange endings. I thought the ending to this movie left much to be desired...
