Shoes and leather | | | | I have a pair of shoes with a decorative leather lace going through it and ties on the top..When I had gotten these shoes, the tie never loosened up until I got the one shoe caught into something and it loosened up to where I had to retie it..I sprayed it with water and set it out in the sun, hoping that it will tighten up again, but it didn't and now when I wear these shoes, I have to always retie my one shoe.. Is there something I can do to get it to tighten up so it doesn't come untied? | | | | | | | | | | Leather Wallets Full Grain Leather Wallets You'll Feel Guilty To Sit On. | | I would cut it shorter and figure out a way to make the little end part go into the metal eyelets (brads, whatever they're called). Usually scotch tape works well. My acrylic laces are stretching longer and longer. The humidity has been awful this year, and I swear my laces are twice as long, maybe I can make two sets instead of just one. Something to think about. Take care | | | | | | | carmelanirel (12169)

| | If I cut it shorter then I can't tie it..It hasn't come out of the hole, just unties.. I thought geetting leather wet and allowing it to dry in the sun, makes it tighter, I may end of having to use my glue gun on it, if possible..That is the only solution I have come up with so far.. | | | | writersedge (7225)

| | You could try a different style of lacing that uses a little more leather. Like most people lace their shoes one way, but there are many ways to lace shoes that use more or less amount of lacing. I meant that the end of shoelaces usually have a little plastic thing at the end so they go through the eyelets better, not anything about the eyelets themselves. So if you had that and needed to replace it after you cut it, how it could be done. So you said it stretched and is too long, but if you cut it,it will be too short. Huh? I'm only talking an inch or whatever more that it is causing it to untie. | | | | carmelanirel (12169)

| | I think I am going to have to go to the library today so I can share what I am talking about, because cutting even a 1/18 of the lace would make it very hard to retie..So I will go and do that today along with my owl in the tree that I took a picture of.. | | | | | | writersedge (7225)

| | OK, I see now. Sometimes I tie a knot in the bows of some that keep untying. Knot it using the two loops, that might work. Take care | | | | carmelanirel (12169)

| | If you mean to double tie it, I can't..I know the picture isn't the greatest, but trust me, there is not enough to double tie it..I think I will try soaking it first and if that doesn't work, then I will use my hot glue gun, that should work.. | | | | | | | Leather Wallets Full Grain Leather Wallets You'll Feel Guilty To Sit On. | | I cant think of anything that may help. But brine may do it, HEAVY salt and little water, soak in it, then let dry. The other wat might be to Double knot, Thats all I can offer here. HICCUP/ | | | | | | | carmelanirel (12169)

| | So a strong salt water might help? I haven't heard of that, when I searched I did see that I needed to really soak it though, I only sprayed it lightly with water. And just like I couldn't cut it like writer suggested, because the laces are not that long, so double tying is out of the question too.....If only I could take a picture to show you..I will consider the salt water though, that would be easy enough..Unfortunately after wetting, I am suppose to put it in a high heat area, and I had that a few days ago with sunny days, but we are now getting rain and clouds, I might wait until Sunday when it is suppose to be sunny again.. | | | | hiccup (8759)

| | The SALT will take the moisture out of the leather laces, and harden it up some. (like SALT on pork skin to make crackle) If it get to dry just use clean water and wash it out. The other way (I know this may sound silly) is to use fat on the laces, and rub it in so they are very soft, then see how they go in holding being tied. Bacon fat is OK for that, the PIG was happy with it, haha, What I have put up is both ends, It being DRY and being SOFT. ONE should work, HICCUP/ | | | | carmelanirel (12169)

| | Interesting that you use a pig as an example..I might take my time on whether to do one or the other, I really like these shoes and would hate to ruin them because the one lace won't stay tied..I am sure, that one of those will work, I will talk to my husband, he might be able to figure out if the fat or salt would work.. | | | | | | | Free .cut Viewer (Best) Open .cut Files with this Free Utility.
