How idiotic is this? Bang Bang

Headline: 8 year old Christopher Bizilj of Ashford Connecticut accidently shoots himself in the head with an Uzi Machine gun while attending the machine gun shoot and Firearms Expo at the Westfield Sportsmans Club. According to the report the weapon was loaded and prepared by an instucter and handed to this innocent 8 year old boy. It goes on to say that when the boy started shooting the machine gun got away from him and raised up to his head and a round was fired off.

I do not know aboout all of you but being a parent I'm outraged. Who in their right mine; instructor or not; would give a young child such a lethal weapon as an Uzi Machine gun?
Honestly there should be no one handeling such a weapon unless they are at least 21
These camps may be good for understanding different types of firearms but should only be attended by adults not children.

The Westfield Sportsmans club will probably get off with a slap on the wrist saying that all saftey procedures were followed. What are they going to tell the family of Christopher? OOOOPS Sorry it was an accident! Time to change the law so innocent children do not attend these type of events what do you think?

Oh geez, was the child killed? I'm all for safely teaching children to handle guns but an uzi?

Children should not be allowed near these sort of places. These clubs are adult clubs. What on earth is wrong or going on in this world today. I take it the boy has died and his parents must of known he would of being attending this.

What a sad, sad loss of a child in this way.

Yes the boy did die. In my estmation the full blame should go to the instructor who handed him the machine gun. My first firearm was a bb gun then a twenty two did not get the bb gun till I was 13 years old and the 22 at 16. These rod and gun clubs usuallly are a great place to teach a person how to correctly use a firearm and how destrutive they can be. If the instuctor in this case had mounted the machine gun and then had the boy shoot it this may have not happened. The father is blamless for he was trying to teach his son how to use guns and most likely thought this woold be a good place to train him. This is a tragedy that should not have happned. Now that this has happened more should be done to change the policys and procedures at these gun clubs to make sure another young child does not have this happen to him or her.

Sadly, this is just more fuel that the gun control nuts can toss on the fire. Something should definitely be done to the instructor, but the truth is that other than his negligence, this is just an unfortunate accident. I hope no one else was injured in this. I have been around guns, and have been shooting all my life. I hate to hear about someone being injured or killed in a hunting or shooting accident, but by NO means do I believe in taking guns away from law-abiding citizens. I wonder how long it is going to take Obama and his goons to get their paws on this and use it to scream for gun control...

You are correct. What is funny in a sad way is that upstanding citizens ending up paying for mistakes like this by having more gun control.Yet the criminals have nore modern guns and can obtain them easily off the black market; gun control or not; while our own police force is limited in what they can obtain.
