Why wont some people exchange or return items?

if he paid for the goods then id let him have the choice, as to be honest hes not trying to be cheeky in my opinion. i myself and many people i know dislike taking things back, as he said 'it makes me feel like an idiot' for some reason it just does... those who have this 'problem' will understand me completly, though those that dont will just think im talking stupid. when you buy something you feel good as in a fay you are showing off your wealth, and making a statement almost 'look at me i can afford to buy new things' though when it comes to returning for whatever reason its almost like admitting defeat

I think you should change them for something you want, but exchange one item for your Son just as a thank you. I know he will appreciate it and I am sure he would not mind as the items would just be lying in his trunk for a long time or thrown or given away.

I think your son has the right idea. He moves on and does not get stuck in the wrong things. Cheers!!

I don't know howm old your son is or what his finances are, but there are people like that and I have no idea why..We are very frugal, because we have to be, even with pennies. so when my daughter was dating this boy who when he came out of the store, would practically throw away, either in the parking lot or just on the floor of his car, his change..Not the bills, but the coins..I am sure in the time they were dating, he probably threw almost a hundred dollars by not keeping his coins..BTW, he had a job and was living with Mom, so he was pretty well off..

Some people are just not aggressive enough. My husband is one of them. If he gets an item that is not right or if someone at the store gives him wrong change, he won't even correct them, even if it would be better for him. One day though, we bought some floor tiles and the cashier made a mistake checking us out. We saved about half the price of the tiles and they weren't on sale. Now in this case, my husband was perfectly happy not to go back, of course. But I wouldn't let him keep the extra money. I made him go back to the store with me and point out the mistake and pay the extra. It works BOTH ways. If someone cheats you, you should point it out. If someone makes a mistake in your favor, point it out. It's only common courtesy.

I don't know. Maybe split it 50/50 or maybe just get one item for him and the rest for me. It's nice to know that the economy is not affecting his wallet too much. I would have given anything for that extra money this month. I was down to my last $5. My 8 year old wanted to go to a Halloween party at her school for $4 and I was almost out of gas. The gas tank won and I had to disappoint her yet again!! I get paid again on Monday and that child will be getting a nice gift for being so good about it. She deserves that much.

I have to admit that I used to have returnophopbia. I was afraid to return any items that didn't fit me or that I didn't like. I don't know exactly why, but I felt that I was being really tight with my money and people would think that I was poor. Now, I have been poor. Growing up, we had what was necessary and nothing more. We couldn't afford really nice material things, but when we got them, we thought we were on top of the world whether or not it fit or worked right. We could always pretend. Now a days, I am not a bit too proud to walk right back in and say this doesn't work..I want my money back, and NO I don't want store credit just so I can get another piece of junk that doesn't work. It's my money. I work for it...I am not about to throw it away. I guess when I was younger, it was the fact that if I returned an item, it showed that I couldn't spare whatever the item cost just to buy another one. I had to return the one I had first...Now, I realize that was pretty dumb.

I will return them in exchange of something.
SOme store has this policy....just bring the receipt
In my place, as long as you have the receipt, they will allow you to change it with the same price

It a waste of money if you cant use those items you bought..

And of course I exchange if I buy the wrong size or it doesn´t fit at all.
