Why in the world would someone want a name like that?!?

That is the problem there you see. You as the parent did not put such a name on him or her. He or she did it to herself by going to the authorities and paid the ten pounds duty to legally change the name on his ID.

I mean, it is something if it is a joke. But to do it on legal papers?
Well, one thing is for sure. If this kid was looking for attention, he sure is getting heck of a lot of it!

Yeah, I would have responded likewise as well.
Cos if someone were to come up to me and introduce himself as Captain Fantastic, I probably would have made him out to be a joker who is trying to be funny.

I wonder what kind of funny name people could think of next!
How they actually like to be called by those phases that doesn't remotely resemble a name is still a mystery to me.
Take for example, there is a person who is named Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii.

I understand if the kid wants a name like Lucas or Leia or even Bond.

But to change a name from say "Johnathan Tan" to "Superman who is not afraid of the red underwear on the outside"? I am just quoting an extreme example.

I find that a tad extreme. The fella is just setting himself up for ridicule. No?
If you do a google, there are even more bizzare names. There was one, the former longest name on record was Rhoshandiatellyneshiaunneveshenk Koyaanisquatsiuth Williams. Just reading that is already giving me a headache. Not to mentione, until now, I still cannot pronounce the name!
But at least, it still looks like a name.

Imagine, when your kid grows up and have to apply for a job, what would the prospective employer be thinking when he reads this name Captain Fantastic Faster Than Superman Spiderman Batman Wolverine Hulk And The Flash Combined on the resume?
Who would take him seriously?

lol=D FOr at least, he can choose one of his many combined names, the most formal one of all, to be his business name^_^ There's always a choice^_^ Just like David beckham, his real name, is David Jospeh beckham...... but he cut it short to just david beckham^_^

Thus, it's possible, and it all depends on how he wans ple to call and remember him^_^

I have dropped your surname cos I find it too common. And this name would make people see me as unique."

You will accept it with open arms?

Well, at his age, he may find it a novelty to be called Captain Fantastic.
Come the time when he needs to get a job.
Imagine you are an employee. And you see a resume with the name Captain Fantastic Faster Than Superman Spiderman Batman Wolverine Hulk And The Flash Combined.

What would your first thoughts be? That this fellow is a joker trying to be funny and then dump the resume in the trash!

I don't know it that would work. I mean, he is already thick skinned enough to want people to call him a superhero name, you think by being sacarstic and using reverse psychology would work on him?

You may end up just push him further up the path of defiance. And he will just be even happier to get on your nerves cos now you have to call him Captain Something Something!
