Yes, I know you all are soooo tired of me going on about Christmas. Well, too bad I am determined to spread some joy and love to someone today! So please tell me: what is Santa Claus called in your culture? What is the story behind him?

1. sunshine4 (6288) | 1 year ago | He is Santa Clause here. You know...brings children the presents on Christmas. He was born Kris Kringle. He was adopted by the Clauses and became Santa (I think).
You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I'm tellin you why, Santa Clause is coming to town:)
I love this time of year! I always tell my kids and especially my daycare kids to behave because Santa is watching.

BethsMom24 (817) | 1 year ago | Yes, that is what he is to me. You are corrected- he was found by a village of elves named Claus. He was wearing an ID braclet that said Kris. I love this time of year too! Merry Christmas

2. elitess (2666) | 1 year ago | Hi Beth's Mom. Here in Romania Santa Clause is called "Mos Craciun" and Christmas is called "Craciun". The story is the same, only the name is different as it is translated into my language (romanian).

BethsMom24 (817) | 1 year ago | Isn't it amazing how the name can be different but the story is the same? Just goes to show this is a small world and for all of our differences, we have many similarities!

3. sickache (424) | 1 year ago | We adopted your Santa Claus here in our country. When i was a child we believe Santa Claus. He gives gifts to kids, rides on his sleigh and wears red hat and dress. Until now most houses have Santa Claus as a sign of Christmas.

4. Anomalie (1066) | 1 year ago | Well BethsMom I am English so we normally say Father Christmas.
I don't think anyone truly knows the story behind him. There are all sort of different opinions. As far as I know he is a mythological figure of Nordic origin. Some people say he was actually St.Nicolas, from which the word Santa Claus was derived.
I only know I just hate it when he arrives in helicopters and limousines. I want my Father Christmas to be in full gear with sled and reindeer and lots and lots of snow.

BethsMom24 (817) | 1 year ago | FINALLY-- back to a subject that will again bring song to my heart! I love that story. We also call him Father Christmas; St. Nick. You are right- if Santa is coming in a limo I will not be there!
