OMGQ!! I'm Even More Famous than I thought! |
| |
| Yesterday, I was at home, minding my own business, when the phone rang. It was Bocephus, a.k.a., Hank Williams, Jr. He wanted me to do something for him. I tried to talk to him, but he practically ignored me and just kept on talking. He was very excited. I listened as patiently as I could, but he just kept blabbering, and I was very busy, so I had to hang up. After he called, several U.S. Senators, and Senator wannabees called me. Sheesh! Can't I have any privacy? As if that wasn't bad enough, this afternoon, John McCain calls. He wanted my help. Sheesh. As if I don't have enough going on!! Then, this evening, as I was settling in for the night, who should call but Sarah Palin. That's right, Sarah called me. She wanted favors as well. They all did. Every one of them wanted my influence and power. Sheesh! Can't these people do anything on their own? I mean, really, can't I get a freakin' break, here? Have you been experiencing these same problems, lately? I mean, really, I thought that I had gotten away from this sort of thing, but they always manage to track me down and drag me back in. I suspect that they paid a pretty penny for someone at the phone company to give out my number!! Who has called and bugged you lately, wanting favors? What measures are you taking to get away from these people and the rest of the paparazzi? | | | | | |

| | My dog's (Foxy Lady) vet called me this morning. I had to drive 39 miles to his office for an emergency visit last night, and after ascertaining that she was fine, he told me that he'd call me in the morning. No country singers called, no Senators called, and nobody from Alaska called. The only other call I received all day was from my best friend who called to ask how Lady was. "She's absolutely fine," was my reply. So, I had no dealings with the paparazzi, nothing out of the ordinary to report, but I'm happy to say that Lady is happy, and that makes my day! Memo to self: Could it be that nobody calls because you're on the "Do Not Call" list, RJ? Hmmm, could be. (C) 2008 RJScott | | | | | | |

| | I'm sorry to hear that you had problems with Lady, but thrilled to hear that she's okay, RJ. I'm on the do not call list, too. You're obviously so important that no one would dare bother you. | | | |

| | I finally just cancelled my phone service and changed my email address. I can still order pizza online, so why do I need a phone anyway? | | | | | | |

| | "I listened as patiently as I could, but he just kept blabbering, and I was very busy, so I had to hang up." Nothing to do with anything, but your statement above reminds me of something my grandfather did a few years ago....this was about a year before he died. Picture a 90 year old man, sitting in a chair doing NOTHING. He was just sitting there, for the longest time, doing nothing. So, my grandmother asks him to get up and do something (I forget what she needed). He looked at her with a very straight face and said, "I'm sorry, I would really love to, but I'm very, very busy". My mother and I looked at each other and both just lost it. It was the funniest thing I think we'd ever heard him say. It was so straight faced and deadpan. He was making a joke anyway, but what made it so funny was the seriousness of the delivery. What you said there just reminded me of it....sorry. Tangent. Trans, I'm sorry. I know you have been dealing with this nasty paparazzi stuff for a long time. Problem is, you can run, but you can't hide. I suspect Palin wanted to know if you liked her glasses. Your opinion is usually make or break in celeb decision making. If you don't like them, I imagine she'll stop wearing them and stop letting stores use her name to sell them. The only people that bug me are my employees and in two days, I'll be unemployed. | | | | | | |

| | Your grandfather sounds like he was a very wise man, Its. Perhaps one day you will take on some of his wise characteristics. I can see that you have already in some ways, notably your understanding of my dealings with the paparazzi. | | | |

| | Fortunately for me, they all think I've been laid off - like so many others lately. But, since I'm fortunate enough to still have a job, they have to talk to my "personal assistant" (as my husband calls our answering machine). Eh, I just hit the ERASE button. But if they figured out that I did have a job and worked hard for my money (and 401(k) ) then I have to hang up on them myself at night... | | | | | | |
