Do you think spouses sometimes pick trivial fights to manipulate?

I have heard that make up sex is the best.Against this background I ask, do you think that male spouses would sometimes pick a fight to get make up sex.He may say for example "Its been a year since you done any thing nice for me ".Statements like these are known untruths but are meant to play upon her conscience and make her so apologetic,she is more open to his whims and fancies.
Women on the other hand are equally manipulative but her aim is perhaps to get attention.Maybe she would say "You were so preoccupied with your girfriend today - you havent even noticed my new hair do ".Once again these staements are known untruths but shocking enough to pick at your consciences and achieve their ends.
