This is really a good post, this will come in handy for lots of folks. it sounds like a really good program specially for single mothers and seniors on fixed incomes. You never know when you need a cell phone in an emergency. I have a prepay cell, I rarely ever use it. Its cheap too, when I buy minutes they don't expire for a year unless I use them up in that time. I can get a $10 card and keep the minutes for a year, I don't chat on the phone so it last for me.

I live in New Jersey, the list of eligible states did not include New Jersey. Also, you have to be at a certain income level or on public assistance to be eligible, since this is a government offer of the free phone.
