As for the company, Nikon is Japanese in origin. It was formed through a merger of three Japanese optical companies in 1917.

| | | 2. trickiwoo (1930) | 1 year ago |  Nikon is a Japanese company. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure all of the parts are made in Japan and assembled in countries such as Thailand and China. I don't think any of their cameras are made in or assembled in the US.

Davidarich (766) | 1 year ago |  Apart from Kodak, I don't think there are any American camera companies left: there may be some specialist and niche makers of 1/2 plate and similar imaging equipment, but Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Fuji etc are Japanese (although many have moved to Korea, the Philipines, Malasia etc). There are a few German and other Europeans cameras out there, too.
