I have a son that will be three months old in a couple of days. I dont even remember what it is like to sleep throught the night. It has been at least a year since i was able to sleep through the night because i couldnt sleep during pregnancy either. I used to be able to sleep through the night at one time though. Hopefully i will be able to get back to that soon.

It is always great to have children. I am sure you will get good sleep very soon after few months and also a happy time with your children.

I used to have terrible insomnia. On the nights I could manage to get to sleep, I'd wake up for no apparent reason, and be stuck awake for another hour at the very least. To combat it, my doctor suggested exercising daily, and reading, instead of watching t.v. for at least an hour before sleep. Also, he suggested that I don't consume any food or beverages at least 2 hours before bed. These have all worked pretty well, though there are some occasional nights where my sleep is still interrupted. Hope this helps you!

when i was younger i would go at least two days with out sleeping. then when the children came it got a bit better. but now it seems to be coming back. but i love those suggestions. being that i love read I would try that. I so could use a good workout too. thanks for the advice i am going to try those things and see if they help

What do you think is keeping you awake? I know I can't sleep properly if I am very stressed out, like last night. I didn't go to sleep until 3am. Hubby wants me to work full time but I'm worried about my son and who's going to take care of him afterschool. He says by putting him in an afterschool program or hiring a babysitter should be fine and dandy, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for someone else to take care of him just yet - he's only 6. The time we have together afterschool is precious and I really don't want to lose that, just yet.

Anyway sorry to go off wandering a bit but because I didn't sleep well last night, I am going to take a hot bath when hubby gets home, and go to bed early. Usually taking that hot bath makes me a little sleepy.

Hope you're able to get some sleep!

I know how you feel maddysmommy. leaving my children was i think the hardest thing I have ever did. I know what it feels like to want to be there but can't. But I have to work in order to take care of them. so it's hard. however i am not under any kind of stress. this is something i have been struggling with for a while. it just seems that lately it's starting to take a toll on me. I get up in the morning and i am just so tired.

No I never sleep straight through the night. I wake up at least 3 or 4 times a night to go potty. You might try not drinking after 7 PM... I don't do that.. I drink right up until I go to bed so I guess that is why I am up all night, but I get thirsty.

Very seldom. Those of us with active minds are always thinking of something or other and that is what causes the restlessness and waking. I have tried various things and have had a little success. I increased my magnesium intake just before bed time and that seems to quiet the mind down some and allow you to sleep better.
If that does not work and I still wake up, I utilize the time efficiently by doing some computer stuff. Usually a short time on the puter will make me sleepy again. If that still does not work try a little TV watching in a darkened room. Seems to work. Lastly I will use self hypnosis if nothing else is working. Something I learned a long time ago that gives complete relaxation. You don't have to worry about not waking up that is impossible and an old wifes tale. It will take a while to master this method though. Continual practice for awhile will finally end in great results. If all of these are imposible or your not willing to do them, take a sleeping pill. LOL

Exercise. Once you do, you will be so tired in the evening, you will usually sleep all the way thru the night when you do.

You can go running or swimming, it doesn't matter. As long as you get a good workout, that is what matters.

Sometime mopping the floor also helps. Use a cloth and a pail and go on all fours to do that. Works up quite a sweat. That night you will be so tired, you will fall a sleep all the way to the morning!

myLot reputation of 97/100. 34momma (5913)   ranked 83 out of 4,456 in sleeping  4 years ago

someone else told me that and i am going to start doing that. i use to wash my floors like that all the time but now it makes my back hurt to much. but the working out i think i am going to make that happen for myself

myLot reputation of 99/100. ahgong (3967)   ranked 533 out of 4,456 in sleeping  4 years ago

It really works! The workout I mean.
Cos I noticed that when I exercise regularly, I tend to sleep thru the night better.
And the best part is, you get to lose a few pounds in the process as well!
A really win win situation!

myLot reputation of 97/100. 34momma (5913)   ranked 83 out of 4,456 in sleeping  4 years ago

you are right about that, and you can't go wrong with a win win

So, momma, have you tried it out yet?

Hi momma! Boy, I wish I had that answer for you! I'm going to
wait and see if anyone has that answer so I can get a good
night's sleep but I rather doubt anyone can help me! I have
a very serious insomnia problem. The doctors can't even help
me. One suggested that I go check into a sleep clinic. I told
him that I would be there for a very long time since I can't
fall asleep and I don't want to be gone so long. I can't sleep
in my own bed so how am I supposed to sleep in a strange place
being watch and hooked up to all kinds of machines and monitors.
I told him I really didn't think that would work at all! So
no one has come up with the proper treatment yet. I am seeing
a new psychiatrist who is trying to figure out another way to
help me. So far no doctor has come up with anything that has
worked. They will not give me sleeping pills and I will not
take them. I know that that is only a temporary fix and that
also is an addicting method so I can't count on that as an
answer.

myLot reputation of 97/100. 34momma (5913)   ranked 83 out of 4,456 in sleeping  4 years ago

from what i hear a really good workout before bed time seems to be the way to go. that and a good book should get you nice and tired and sleeping through the night, so i am going to start doing that and see what happens.

I work seven days a week and my hours for work fluctuates alot. I sleep about 3-4 hours at a time and then work again. This goes on daily. I work a while until I get tired and then go lay down and get back up and do it again. A good night of sleep may consist of a nice warm bath before going to bed if you have the time though.

Sorry sis, but as one who doesn't get sleepy until I hear the birds start churping at day break, I don't remember the last time I had what I'd call "A good nights sleep". I toss and turn all night long, and then when it's time to get up I get sleepy. So as far as that I can't help you. Now if you need advise on how to sleep like a Vampire, then I'm your man. LOL
