Has anyone invented Frosted Pie Crust? |
|
I am one of those people who is just "slightly" addicted to sugar. I could eat a container of frosting without much thought to it. Maybe not all in one sitting, but it would not take me long. I like the cake part, but if I had to choose, I'd go for the frosting.
Now, on the other hand, pie is all about the crust. Again, the filling is good, but if the crust is flaky and sweet, I could just eat a pie crust and have.
I was thinking wouldn't it be great if they sold frosted pie crust?? The crust is the cake part/filling, and the frosting is...the frosting.
If this were real, which it could be of course because I could always buy or make a pie crust and frost it, I would have shortbread crust and white buttercream frosting with coconut flakes.
So, tell me what about you? Do you prefer the frosting to the cake or the other way around? Do you love the crust and could care less what's in it when you have pie, or is it all about the filling?
If you are a sugaraholic like me and love frosting, would you frost a pie crust? If so, what's your creation?
Or, do they alread make this and I have never seen it? If so, where the heck is it??
And, the final question of the evening. Will you all be glad when I go back to work and stop posting this drivel?

I would also skip the pie crust part. I live to stick the spoon in the frosting and dig in!*LOL* Yep, that's me!;)

2. Goodie123 (7548) | 1 year ago | I am not real keen on the pie crust Faith. I would much rather make a pie crust the way the base for a cheesecake is made, with biscuits crumbs. Much much yummier then an ole pastry crust.
As for the frosting or the cake, I would much prefer the frosting over the cake. Except of course unless it is a Caramel Mudcake. Yummmmmmmm

itsmefaith (2236) | 1 year ago | What kind of frosting? It looks like something that would have cream cheese frosting on it.

|
|
Goodie123 (7548) | 1 year ago | I suppose you could put cream cheese frosting on it. Over here it is just made with icing sugar, butter and whatever flavour you want to add.

Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | Did you hit your funny bone, Its? That can be quite painful. For your sake, I hope that you don't seek comfort from your funny bone pain in sweets.

Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | That looks like a nice cake, Its.
It reminds me of the Oreo Chocolate Cake that I have right now. You may be familiar with this cake as it's the kind found at TGIF. I bought a whole cake yesterday just to keep it around the house as ambiance for the holidays.

Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | I am just a remarkable host. I like to be prepared for guests, so I try to keep stocked up on a variety of foods, including sweets. I hear that there are many people who enjoy sweets.
Tomorrow, I plan to stock up on a few Chunky Kit Kats. I hear that these are liked by many.

Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | I hope that you'll be able to try some of these Kit Kats one day, Its. It's too bad that you don't have such great friends as I who would gladly see to it that you got such a treat. They certainly mean nothing to me except as a way of making my friends smile.

Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | It ISsad, Its. I, too, wonder where you went wrong along the way.
My Christmas wish for you is that you make good friends like me some day.

|
itsmefaith (2236) | 1 year ago | Oh, I hope so too. I lead such a lonely existence without friends such as you who buy sweets, when they don't even like them, just to have on hand for their friends.
Do you have any lessons to share with me that might help me make those types of friends?

Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | I have no lessons for you, Its. Just count your lucky stars should you ever make friends as great as my friends think of me.
That is truly a tragic tale, Curly.

4. polachicago (7937) | 1 year ago | I am not for sweets at all. I may eat slice of pie once a year, but I would stay away from frost. I don't like frost. Too sweet, too sticky.... I rather have hot peppers...

8. brimia (6187) | 1 year ago | My husband was always a huge frosting fiend. He'd always pick the piece of cake with the most icing. When I took a cake decorating class he was in heaven.:-) I don't think I've ever heard of a frosted pie but it's an interesting idea and I'm sure lots of people would like it.

9. awonderfullife (2397) | 1 year ago | Hi Faith! The closest thing I can think of to frosted pie crust is a frosted pop tart. But I guess that's just not the same now, is it? I agree that good crust is far better than the filling-- and good frosting is far better than any ol' dry cake. I think you could invent a new delicacy with this frosted pie crust idea and become a very rich woman!
