If they're saying something like, "tommy is so hyper, I swear he has Adhd," that doesn't bother me, because, first of all, maybe Tommy DOeS have ADHD, and it doesn't seem like the person is implying its horrible... just sort of overwhelming. If they say something bad about ADHD, I'm likely to point out that I have it, just to shut them up.

| | | | 6. dodo19 (4346) | 11 months ago | I do have ADD/ADHD. It has always annoyed me when people would make fun of it. It is offensive. In grade 7 and 8, kids (especially the guys) in my year would make fun of it. It was for this reason that I didn't tell anyone that I had this disorder until much later. It slowed down my process of acceptance.

It wasn't until later that I started reading books on this condition. A couple of years ago I picked up a book by an author named Lynn Weiss called ADD and Creativity: tapping your inner muse. I like this book alot. She helps someone with ADHD realize how they go about tasks compared to others and how their ways are often better than others/more rewarding in the end. I wish I had known this earlier.
I even hear remarks on TV now that I don't agree with. People with ADHD are said to often be very intelligent. I think those who offer their low opinions of ADHD are the ones who are low. Why don't they look and observe the good things about the person? Don't judge and criticize what you don't understand. It affects you and could also have a great influence for bad or good in the ADHD child/person's life.
