What do you feel about people talking loudly in their mobile phones in public? |
|
I was sitting in the public bus. I was on the way to the market to buy some meat for the dogs when I heard someone talking loudly. I turned around to have a look at the speaker and noticed a young man. He had stuffed one finger in his right ear. The other ear had a mobile phone stuck to it. And he was talking really loudly.
How do you react when you see or hear people talk loudly in their mobile phones in public places? Do you try to overhear? Does it anger you, amuse you, or upset you? I always try to overhear. I hear some great things sometimes.
Cheers and happy mylotting

I have nothing against talking on mobile phones, but don't think it's necessary for the entire vehicle to hear a one-sided conversation. I have answered my mobile on public transport but calls are nearly always short and I usually tell caller I'll ring them back later.

42. idowrite72 (1596) | 1 year ago | It depends on where I am and what I am doing, but many times I can just tune them out. I think that many people are very rude with their phones. My daughters drive me crazy when they ask me to go somewhere with them and spend the entire time talking on their mobile phones and ignoring me. I witnessed an amusing event one day at the library. My computer was down and I went there to use a computer and there was a young lady talking loudly and for quite a while on her phone. One of the men sitting there very quietly pushed the sign on the table toward her that said something about NOT talking on your cell phone while on the computer. I thought it was funny.

45. PearlGrace (1883) | 1 year ago | Usually I find it pretty annoying to be forced to overhear someone's cell phone conversation. When my cell phone rings, I get up and go to another room or stand outdoors to talk so as not to expose others to my conversation.
Sometimes, people may be talking too loud when they are on cell phones. Lately, I've been experimenting with how loud I actually need to talk in order for the person on the other end of the phone line to hear me.
Take care and thanks for an interesting discussion.

46. lilisor (139) | 1 year ago | Maybe his phone had bad signal?:P it's annoying when you're on the bus and you're tired, you just want to enjoy the bus ride back home from work and suddenly you hear a stupid ring tone. As if that wasn't enough he/she starts talking very loud on the phone. Everybody on the bus is being quiet, perhaps they're all tired but that person doesn't know how annoying it is to hear somebody speak loud on the mobile phone while on bus. I don't pay too much attention to people who speak loud on the phone while they're walking on the street, I hate those who are doing it in closed spaces. But what annoys me the most are teenagers who are listening on the street/bus crappy music without using headphones! Now that's annoying!

48. lexus54 (2665) | 1 year ago | I never like to eavesdrop on people's conversations, so people talking loudly on their mobile phones makes me feel uneasy sometimes, especially if it disturbs the peace. Some people talk on their mobile phones like there's no one around. But then, there are also those who are hard of hearing, so they may not realize they are talking too loudly because in the first place, they can't hear themselves properly.
I just came back from a trip to Hong Kong, and when I was there, I came across many mainland Chinese visitors from China. Boy, they sure talk loudly to each other in public in addition to talking loudly on their mobile phones. You can hear them from a mile away. I am told it is their habit to do so, but it sure is uncomfortable if they are in a train, bus or restaurant and right next to you. And if their group is large, you can imagine the noise level they create from their conversations.
