The crappy remake wasn't bad, the makeup was awesome. I like Mark Wahlberg ok. No I didn't know there were 5, you mean the ones with Charlton Heston? Wow, I didn't know that! What are they all named?

I have seen the orginal movie, and it was very good, but I don't like remake movies, its not same. I didn't know there was five of them.

Heheheh.. I don't like these kinds of movies, it's pretty obvious they're only made-up. I think what's fascinating alone is the make-up and the costumes. But why would people ever have interest about watching apes do something? I mean, I think there's more 'aping around' with humans already.

I knew there were 5. Didn't much like them. Hated the TV show - but then again, I hate Roddy McDowell. I think the first was the best, shouldda stopped there.

Yes, I knew there were five (and we own all five, and that should answer the question as to whether I like these movies).

No, I thought the remake was terrible and the previews were misleading. Didn't you expect the "BOW YOUR HEAD" command to be taken from a more dramatic scene than the one at the DINNER TABLE??? Still, someone knew of our love for these movies (the originals) and bought us the remake, so we own that too.

The live-action TV series was lame. REALLY lame. There was also an animated series called "Return to the Planet of the Apes." Never saw that one, so I can't tell you if it was worth watching. Then, there were also made-for-TV movies based on the live-action series. They weren't any good either.

If you go to IMDB (www.imdb.com/search) and do a search for "Planet of the Apes" you will find all of the shows, movies, and TV movies. It's actually a long list!

The only dilemma I have now is that I have to decide whether to wait to see if we win the Blu-Ray set from the sweepstakes (ha!), or just buy the darned set. I suppose if we do win, we could always sell the unopened set on eBay!

The remake was ok, but just barely. You should read the book, yes their is a book and the ending is way different than either version.

I'm going to show my age here ... oh well! I remember seeing the original in 1968 with my family at the DRIVE-IN! Dad hated going to the theater because he smoked and even back then you couldn't smoke during a movie. So whenever the whole family went out to see a movie it was always at the drive-in. I was only 9 yrs old when we saw that movie and I can tell you I was awestruck. We didn't get a lot of science fiction back then! It was also the first time I ever saw a naked butt on a grown man. I remember my mom gasping and looking at me to see my reaction. I just kind of laughed so she didn't get upset. It was like she was expecting me to scream and cry or something... I know.. strange, but you have to understand that my parents kept me fairly sheltered as a child!

I eventually saw all the movies and frankly I was disappointed in 3-5. I do watch them sometimes on the tv but only if nothing else is on. The tv series was terrible. It just couldn't capture the feel, way too cheesy.

I loved the makeup and some of the special effects in the remake! But the story didn't thrill me. They relied too much on the special effects and tanked on the rest of it. Tim Burton (the director) just blew it.

I liked the originals, but the remakes did not interest me much. They had a marathon of the originals when I was pregnant with my son. Since I couldn't do anything at that time, I sat on the couch all weekend and watched the whole thing from start to finish.

I have been watching these movies as well. I really enjoyed watching a several hour long documentary about the making of the Planet of the Apes on the Bio.com channel. There was a lot in there of which I was unaware.

I knew that there were five. I watched them all in a row one long day many years ago. The last few weren't so good.

I did not like the crappy remake. I like Mark Wahlberg, but I just couldn't get into the remake.

I am guilty! I watched them. There was real artistry in the making of these movies. I may even go and check out the books from the library. They also had a short lived tv series after the movies. Sometimes they run it on tvland.
