Wal-Mart worker died after shoppers knock him down.

NEW YORK - A worker died after being trampled by a throng of unruly shoppers when a suburban Wal-Mart opened for the holiday sales rush Friday, authorities said.
At least three other people were injured.
Wal-Mart stores Inc., in Bentonville, Ark., would not confirm the reports of a stampede but said a "medical emergency" had caused the company o close the store, which is in Valley Stream on Long Island.
Nassau County police said the 34-year-old worker was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 6 a.m., an hour after the store opened. The cause of death was not immediately known.
A police statement said shortly after 5 a.m., a throng of shoppers "physically broke down the doors, knocking (the worker) to the ground." Police also said a 28-year-old pregnant woman was taken to a hospital for observation and three other shoppers suffered minor injuries and were also taken to hospitals.
The dead worker's name was not released.
"Local authorities are looking into the situation," said Wal-Mart representative Dan Fogleman. But he said it would be "inappropriate for me to share any additional information" until authorities investigate further.
Shoppers around the country lined up early outside stores in the annual bargain hunting ritual known as Black Friday. Many stores open early and stay open late. The Valley Stream Wal-Mart usually opens at 9 a.m.

I went shopping on black friday for the first time this year and I will never do it again. My Walmart is open 24 hours so the lines are at the pallets of things. I can see how someone could get trampled though very easily in those crowds.

I enjoy having fun going but even though I make it a point to go every year I think they need to put a stop to it for the next year just for this reason. If people can't use some common sense and obviously they can't then stop doing it.
This year was the worst I have seen so far and I have been going for a long time. I was in Wal Mart in our area and I left because I was feeling very uncomfortable with the agression of the crowd.

Another story I read on Yahoo about this said when they tried to get people to leave because a worker had been killed, the people refused because they had been in line for so long! I hope the security tapes can identify responsible parties, although it is unlikely. I don't care HOW good the deal is, someone's life isn't worth it!

4.  anniepa (9189) | 1 year ago |  I said in at least one other post about Black Friday that I went shopping on this day one time in my life, over thirty years when my sister-in-law talked me into it and I said NEVER again! There have been many local stories of people in my area getting knocked down and injured but I don't recall ever hearing of someone being killed before. How tragic, a young man of 34 dead because of impatient shoppers. That's just beyond my comprehension, it's not something one would expect in a "civilized" society. To be sure, I know now I've been right all these years for refusing to participate in this madness.

Sales shoppers are a different breed who only copme out at this time of year to shop. The rest of the year they are under sedation in mental institutions!!
They must save at least $10 so life is really cheap.

| 6. carmelsuarez (279) | 1 year ago |  This is terrible. I dont understand sometimes... why people are sooooo selfish, they just think of getting or satisfying thier own pleasure not thinking what would it cost for others.
Somwtimes when I read news like this...it made me furios...and would ask God to let it happen to the person who caused the not good thing...so that he/she will learn how is it to be hurting. Maybe they'll changed. But it's only me...with my angry heart.... I can't dectate God what to do.
