For CIAO members: WHAT THE HECK IS THE POINT ....?

... of Ciao's reminder to reviewers to "Share your experience" when there are people who criticize your review because you SHARED YOUR EXPERIENCE and didn't bother telling the whole story of the movie you are reviewing because the synopsis is already there for everyone to read???! You didn't know that? Under the title of each movie is the Manufacturer's Product Description. Just click "more" at the end of the first one or two sentences and you'll be led to the mid-bottom right of the page where you can read the whole story. IT'S ALREADY THERE! I am quite ticked off that there were 2 people who commented on my honest review of 2 different movies with the comment "you didn't tell much about the movie". My goodness! Why should I???? I'm not like some other reviewers who lift off movie summaries at other sites (I Googled two sentences of one review and out popped the IMDB version!) and just paraphrase them a little bit just so they can "share" what they know! Gosh ... seriously! Do these people even know what REVIEWERS mean?

This makes me wonder about CIAO too. I have just started there and have many questions about it. I guess I will learn as I go.

hi! you're welcome to ask any questions. just pm me at ciao if ever. thanks for the response ... btw guys, my username there is writermom. add me if you want to. and don't worry, i don't pressure people there to rate my reviews. i just do my own thing and enjoy what i'm doing which is sharing what i know, just like here in mylot. if there are rates and positive comments, they are just an added bonus.

I tend not to explain much about the movies either. I write my opinion while giving a vague plot description throughout the review. I agree, there are some bad cases of plagiarism on Ciao; I found somebody who had copied basically forty reviews. o_o I couldn't believe he got away with it for so long. Anyways, don't worry about it; you're still paid the money for writing the reviews. Unless you're resolved to become all chummy-chummy with other Ciao members, just continue with what you're doing. It's more important that you write in the style you prefer and feel you're strongest in. Others will eventually recognize this and start appreciating your reviews more for it.

thanks zezlol. it's nice to know there are people who feel the same way i do. yeah, you mentioned about being chummy with other Ciao members. don't you find it too presumptuous of some who add you to their list of friends and blatantly tells you to add them in your COT because they added you in theirs? i'm very cheesy about returning the favor especially after reading 2-3 of their reviews and none of them even talked about the reviewers' real feelings about the products. makes me wonder if they even used (items), listened (audio) or watched (movies) what they were reviewing at all :(

Well, people love to whine in the internet. I'm not talking about you, but the people whining about your reviews. The truth is, if you "told more about the movie" then people would start whining that you're giving away spoilers. Just sit back and continue doing your reviews, you can't please everyone. Oh, and you're right about people simply copying stuff from IMDB and the like. How lazy can they get! As if writing 125 words was a difficult thing to do. Rich
