My Black Friday wasn't so black after all.  |

 I started my day off by being one of the last people in a long line at the local Walmart for the 5 am opening for their ridiculous sales. This means I had to take a little bit of a walk around the back of the building so I can take my place in the back of the line behind what seems to be a million and a half people.
They were having this great sale on flat screen TVs and I had to get in on that deal, actually my wife made it my task of the day to get one or don't bother to come home. So, seeing that there can't possibly be that many TV sets in the store for the amount of people that were already ahead of me. Chances were looking mighty slim for me to get anything, so I decided to encourage myself by thinking that if I don't try, I'll never know if I can get one.
A loud cheer can be heard from the mile distance I was standing from the front doors and the line began moving quickly forward. As I entered the store, I began watching what was once people herding toward the electronics section like cattle on crank. They were knocking clothing off the racks and bumping into the cheap crap in the center of the aisles as expected, while working their way to the back of the store. So, I decided to pause and watch what was actually happening all around me. Seeing that there were people with shopping carts holding two or three 32" flat screen TV sets already standing in the check-out line, I decided to ask someone that has already conquered the crowds where were the TV sets located, in which I was pointed into the right side of the store. Making my way against the crowd like stoking a cat's fur the wrong way, I saw my chance to grab one of the remaining 9 sets and then make my way to the register.
$400.00 poorer and 15 minutes from the time I was standing in the back of the line trying to get into the store, I found myself victoriously heading back home with the prize that will allow me to get back into the house.
I've always heard tales of shopper stomping deaths and mob rule mentality when Black Friday begins which has always be a good reason to discourage me to participate in the stupidity.
I can't feel how lucky I was to make out like I did considering I was in the position of it being possible at all. It looks like Black Friday wasn't so black after all, at least not for me.

You were smart to just stay away until all the animals were finish beating each other to death just to spend their hard-earned money. Like I said, I was lucky, really lucky. 2.  nadooa247 (835) | 1 year ago |  when it comes to electronics i usually hit their online stores since that is what i did last year... saved a bundle on my camera AND saved myself from getting scarred for life=P Last time i actually WENT to the store i was looking at a shirt some old lady growled at me and snatched it from my fingers-- something about her grand-daughter apparently=P im like... oooookay.... so i tend to not go at all if i can find the deals online;)

| 3. arcidy (4974) | 1 year ago | Well I had a great day shopping for stuff got to do it in my home didnt wake up early and saved on a lot of money buying the whole southpark dvd collection a learn to play guitar book for dummies and rush snakes and arrows tour which I saw live and couldnt wait for it to come out on dvd. But I shopped on amazon.com which had some amazing savings today and I would never go out shopping because of all the mad people out there sure I have to wait a week to get the items I orderd but I think its well worth it and better then having to go out in 4 am and fight the crowds.

you did really good! well, I was thinking they openned at 6am like other places so we got there late. Our store remains open the 24 hours - BUT - they have the blitz items draped and no one can see what is on the crates before 6am.
When we arrived the parking lot was at capacity and there were 2 carts left unused.
I did not struggle, somehow, to get around the store - I only picked up one blitz item. I was a little frantic when I saw people in line for check out all the way over to the garden center area... but when I went to the front the other way I was able to get much closer at another register. It still took around 40 minutes to check out. It was not worth it, frankly.

So, I did manage to stay in the house a little longer by completing my task, but the TV isn't big enough for her, so now I have to listen to her complain about that at least until my next victorious screw-up. I'd never get anything because I don't push people out of the way and stuff. Seems like people get crazy for the savings! They don't have that black friday here at walmart as far as I know. Although I'm very cheap and if they did. I'd be going! That being said I still don't understand the crazy angry people that go and trample people or grab stuff from others hands. | |

So like the sheep most people tend to be, they do as they are told. Even animals have enough sense to work it out so the whole pack can get some of the kill. | |
