I thought someone had stolen my sanity but it was just on an extended vacation.

Well, you are not an idiot. People make mistakes all the time. I used to work for a call center and one time this lady called up freaking out about how we had messed up her order and she sent something back and she has not gotten her refund for it! I looked all over her history and tried to explain to her calmly that we did not receive this item. But, she kept yelling and cursing at me. I was starting to get angry as well. Then, her daughter walked into the room and she asked her, 'you DID mail that stuff back, didn't you?' And the daughter said no. The lady apologized to me so many times. It made me feel better that she was willing to apologize and so I was more willing to help her out. Long story short, I think that if you call them back and apologize they will not be mad, they will be happy that you took the time to apologize and will feel better that you did so. Go for it! Oops!! It's an easy mistake to make, really, and the hotel will be very relieved and understanding when you call them and explain that the laptop was misplaced and you've located it. If it makes you feel better, you don't have to explain that you just overlooked it in your laptop case - just that you've found it. If you do explain, though, chances are that they'll actually laugh about it with you.

It's funny that you should ask about something going missing just now. My whole family has just spent the last half hour searching for a $100 bill that my daughter was missing. She checked where she had left it, but it wasn't there. She didn't outright accuse anyone, but she asked who had been in her room. I was very upset to think that one of her two brothers might have taken it - and was just about to tell them that they were grounded until the money turned up when she found the money. It was in her other pants pocket! She apologized for making such a fuss about it. Luckily, I hadn't yet gotten really angry about my boys so I didn't have to do a lot of apologizing about it.

If I was you I would forget all about it,why have egg on your face when you don't need to,keep quite and forget it or ring the hotel and tell them it has turned up,you had not realised a friend had borrowed it with out telling you, in a word lie,it won't hurt and it will get you out of a difficult position because they might still be looking for it at the hotel and the chambermaid might get the blame.Good luck{ p.s} tell them you have told your friend off and say sorryxx.

I have done something a bit like this in the past.
I was preggie with my twins so my mind was all over the place. I ordered a fleece from a book I don't order from. It came. I put it in the wardrobe and forgot about it. There was not a payment sheet with it so couldn't pay for it. About two months later they sent a demanding letter saying they wanted the money and why hadn't we paid etc. I told hubby that I haven't had the fleece so he got on the phone, argued with thme etc and then I remebered that I had had it! He had to eat some humble pie and we paid for it!

Nothing like that has ever happened to me, Its. I can't recall ever doing anything like that. Ever. Not once in my life have I ever done something like that and I hope that I never do. I suspect that I never will as I am quite methodical and organized.

Are you going to call the place you accused?

I would freak out as well!! I would have done the same thing you did I am sure!

But yes I think you should perhaps swallow your pride and phone the hotel back to apologize. You will feel better and someone at the hotel will not be in trouble. I know it will be humiliating but at least you don't have to do it in person!

DOn't worry faith, hotels have surveillance cameras in every room, at worst, tehy're gonna find out what colour panites you put on that morning:P...

Well I've been thinking about your situation, it was really terrible and youre right if I made a mistake i had to assume the risk. Someday I was going to a friend's party, it was a wonderful night, that day I said everyone it was the best day of my life but I was wrong, It wasn't..I went to the bathroom and I put my cellphone there, Oh my god, all my contacts, my fiends, my god!!! everything was there in that small machine, so I lost my cellphone the new one, I was crying...what was the first question? Where I left it? I was abbsolutely sure It was in the bathroom I forgot my cellphone there..but many people were in the house that day, maybe someone took it.. no many honest people...I know that!!! my best friend called me to calm me down but it was impossible, I was so nervous...I lost my life there..I didnt find my cell, all numbers were lost, I was an idiot...Look I just took my cell to call my boyfriend? you see?? in the bathroom It was so crazy...I broke up with him and I lost my beauty cell... Now I get it and also I learned there are more important things than a cell...

I have accused someone of taking my ipod before, it was quite embarrassing whenever I found it. Their reaction was more of a, "I told ya so" kinda thing. So no they weren't mad and very understanding.. Hope I helped.
