Best concerts of 2008

2008 is about to end and personally it was a year full of amazing live music.

I attendend concerts of Mars Volta, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Manu Chao, Stone Temple Pilots, Cafe Tacuba, Stereo Total, Oasis, and some others... :) (if you don't know some of them i really recommend you to give them a look in youtube)

Leading by much, the best concert I attended this year was Nine Inch Nails.

Man, their show is mind-blowing! The combine industrial rock with A LOT of multimedia. That includes usual lights and reflectors, but also an array of 3 translucent huge LED screens, 1 hi-def and the other of regular res. One screen is the background of the stage, other is in between the stage, and the third goes on front. This way Trent Reznor creates atmospheres around his music. Also the screens are interactive and project LIVE content. They interact to Reznor getting close to them of touching specific areas of the screen to generate tones. And they project live feeds from cameras around the arena (even 1 in a bathroom!).

I was not a NIN fan , and now I am transformed, so for me this was the best concert of 2008. :)

Well, I attended to one of the concerts of the summer tour that included Heart, Cheap Trick and Journey with their new singer (Arnel Pineda) and the three of them blew my mind away... Back in my country, I had the chance to see one of the Juanes concerts and I must say, I wasn a HUGE fan... but I am now; the lights, the incredible musicians and most of all: Juanes himself. It was just nuts!

Nine Inch Nails is definitely incredible. Did they play The Great Destroyer at that show because that song live is insane. I really want to see Nine Inch Nails play sometime soon. The Mars Volta are really sweet too. I would love to see those guys in concert too. Did they play Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt, Eriatarka, or Roulette Dares at that show.

Yeah!, the played the great destroyer, completely wicked. It was an awesome show overall, and i believe thats the way concerts are going to incorporate other media in a not so far future. On the downside...for NIN is that they expend most of the concerts income to pay for the show hehe. I only missed the instrument destruction :)

I think they are still on tour, but don't know where. I hope you have the chance to see them soon.

About the Mars Volta concert, they were one of the main bands in a music festival here. They have one of the best guitar players i've seen performing :). They played five songs for a 1.5 hour show :D none of the ones you mention... they played Drunkship of Lanterns, Viscera Eyes, Wax Simulacra, Cygnus with a weird mixture I didn't recognized, and Goliath. At the end of the show Cedric Bixler threw his shoe into the crowd :) haha. They absolutely rocked up there.

That's sweet, yeah their guitar player Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is impossibly good. He is another band called the Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Quartet or just Omar Rodriguez-Lopez but everyone out of Mars Volta has a lot of side projects check them out.

I am Indonesian. The best concerts of 2008 at my country is Rossa "Love Concert". It was performed by a famous singer of Indonesia, Rossa.
