Which one do you prfer -Single core , Dual core or Quad core processor?  

Yaah...im preferring dual core. Its wide availibility make it even cheaper than centrino... Quad is still expensive and shows no sign of price drops.

Dual Core!! If someone gifts me, I'll go for Quad Core ;). My preference would be with AMD.

Quad cores have never been more affordable. You can get the Q6600 from newegg.com for easily under $200 (sometimes for $150 if you shop around right).

And once you go quad-core, you never go back :)

use dual core, its da best for normal use.. its better more affordable rather than quad core processor..

i use dual core on my computer because it cheep and i dont need much processing power for my works.. and im not thinking of making a mega computer, its a waste of money...

BTW, im using dual core AMD ahtlon x2 4000+

It depends on your work and your pocket also
if you want to purchase it only for home then dual code is better option. if you want to use it as a server then quad core is much better.
NOw choise is yours.

Ithink it depends on what you want to do with your computer, if is just daily routins like playing music and surfing the net only..i think there is no use to buy a quad core or any higher processor.

But if really into using your computer for things that require high memory then quad core might be necessary, things like aditing movies and graphic designing might require higher processora with higher RAMS

I'm a duel core and my husband has a quad. He doesn't do have the stuff on his computer that I do on mine. I can often be found with three browsers running, java going, etc.....multi-tasking indeed!

Well obviously if you can afford it, then Quad core would be a preference, but it is too expensive and can't be really justified just for ordinary use in the home, so Dual Core is the way I choose to go at the moment.

With prices falling all the time and progress of processors just getting faster and better, an affordable system with a Quad Core processor is not too far away.

i'm currently using dual-core processor... it processes very fast but i don't know how fast the quad-core would be...

i personally don't believe that you can experience the difference with the speed of a quad and a dual core if your running just a basic computing application like microsoft office. unless your running vista which requires great number of resources. if your a first time pc user running a quad core on a vista, you won't appreciate the speed. it will be just like your running an xp system that looks good. you can't appreciate unless you experience it.
