Some of you will have read on mylot today that my children had a christmas school fair.

Well they have a cake stall, and the PTA always send a palte home in a poly bag in the hope that you will fill the plate with cakes and send it back. I think they now send a plate as they think if they do there is more chance of the plate coming back with cakes on than if they just ask for cakes.

Well when unpacking the bookbags tonight I found my plate and its bag which I should have been given on Wednesday!!!

The fair was very good and we had a visit with Father Christmas

Oops! I made 2 cakes for the cake walk at my sons Harvest Festival at his school right before Halloween. We did not get sent plates. I made mine in disposable aluminum pans.

I got a note one time from my sons teacher that ask for me to send a box of tissues to cless ( I got the note a wek late) and the whole time I had been sending a small individual pack with him. I bet the teacher thought I was stingy! LOL. I did send them when I got the note and attached a little note that said hope better late than never works! LOL

Hi Anne18

My son too was given a paper plate on Monday with the hope that he might return it in time for Thursday morning with cakes or biscuits. I did some cookies the night before and cut them into seasonal shapes, candy canes, stars etc. My son was then sick on the Thursday but I took the cookies in all the same. By the evening he was feeling fine so we went to the Chrstmas fair but the cookies were still there when we left!! I did win the Jamie Oliver book in the raffle though (ministry of food) so all was not lost! My mum now how to buy me a different gift for Chrismas now though!!

We used to given a cake box and everychild was monitored as they went back into school, that cake stall was piled sky high and they all went,we all went and brought our cake back but we did not mind as it did raise funds for the school. My son used to be in the cub scouts and one year Iwas on the cake stall and this lady came up and purchased this cake,we passed the time of day as you do and she went off.Towards the end of the fete and wanted to know where her cake was,I had not realised the other lady had sold the cake earlier, got busy and forgot to put it away.Cake rage or what.In my defence I told them they should have put it away.I was never asked or indeed volunteer again.

Sorry you got it to late. My daughters teacher is really good at sending notes home early when they need things she usually sends the note home two weeks in advance plenty of time to get what is needed. Glad you had a good time at the fair though and hopefully next year they will get you the plate in time!

Hello, I don't really understand what your event was all about. Why does the school want cakes? Will they serve this again to guests? Won't that mean that it isn't as fresh anymore? It's interesting though what you guys do.:)There are many cheap bakeries in my country so if the school wants cake, then everyone can just bring one whole cake each and it won't put a dent in our budget.:)

That always happens doesn't it, you don't find out about anything until its too late. I know my nephews are like that, they'll have a note in their bag they were supposed to give their mom, but she doesn't find it till its too late..lol. Kids..haha.

I am sure it was busy and people had there minds on other things then what kind of cake eveyone brought. I wouldn't be to upset about it especially if you kicked in and help somewhere else while you were there. just put it from your mind and remember to do a little something extra for the next carnival.

My grandkids are good at leaving important papers until the last minute, or too late. It's nice that the PTA there provides the plates, at least. Yours probably wasn't the only plate that didn't come back, at least you would have sent one if you knew. Some parents just wouldn't bother at all.

That is actually the first time I've heard of a PTA doing that. Although, that is a much better idea than just asking for cakes.

Of course, I don't have kids, so all I have to deal with is getting recruited for church stuff.
