Favorite CDs  

Yes, but what albums? I made my choices because there isn't a single song on any of those albums I dislike; that is a pretty spectacular feat considering most artists will have one or two decent songs per album and the rest will be utter crap.

Take for instance, Clapton's Unplugged. Not a bad song in the bunch. They're mostly classic blues (Delta, my favorite) and when Clapton gets a hold of them they become something sublime. I can listen to that album over and over and never tire of it.

And BNL's first album Gordon. I can sing every single song word for word and every song is distinct from the others. Sadly, their subsequent albums would never measure up.

I know what you mean. That's why the MP3 revolution has been so great; you can now just listen to the songs you like without having to wade through a bunch of crap

The albums on my list predate mp3s (with the exception of Elephant) and it's a good thing I think; I wouldn't know how great they really are if I hadn't been forced to listen to the whole thing. LOL

Dang you just reminded me of another album I absolutely love: The soundtrack to She's The One. Tom Petty wrote all the music...if you like Petty I think you'll enjoy it....

Oh and Camper Von Beethoven's My Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart. All time favorite punk album.

You seem to be a fairly big fan of Tom Petty. I have always really liked his sound. Have you heard Mudcrutch? I haven't but was kind of looking for someone else's opinion on it.

To be honest, I dont listen to much on music radio anymore. If I do its usually country or soft rock.

The "Mudcrutch" album is pretty good if you like Petty, which I do.

I like DCC and Elliot Smith but I've only heard individual songs.

Chords is technically DCFC's first album. It was released the way you can buy it now (18 tracks on CD) in 2002 but it was originally released as a cassette in 97 with only 8 songs (President of What, Champagne from a Paper Cup, Pictures in an Exhibition, Hindsight, That's Incentive, Amputation, Two Cars, and Line of Best Fit). Of course, I love it in it's full re-release capacity.

The Good Will Hunting soundtrack is a great way to get people into Elliott Smith. Between the Bars, Miss Misery, Angeles - All terrific tracks. Plus, the instrumental tracks were composed by Danny Elfman, who is freaking amazing.

I could definitely add Aqualung and Dark Side to my list.

Speaking of Pink Floyd, their fans seem to be firmly divided into two camps. You and I are in the same camp; my husband favors The Wall, but we manage to live peaceably together...lol

actually, most of us have a good mix of favorites. regardless of where they come from for as long as they touch our hearts with their music somehow, they get to be our favorites.

the beatles are among my favorites, too, imizzy. but that will not be any surprise. they were so loved because of their muzic.
