Color Me PISSED!  

The cost of extra curricular activities continues to sky rocket, but yea, they can have a bake sale or something. Around here the kids have car washes, they actually DO something for the "donations". Panhandling, and that's exactly what they are doin, is not a great way to teach a child to "earn" a living or make their own way! Geesh.

I totally agree with you on the risk those teeny boppers were taking on that highway stopping traffic. It should be illegal for them to do that. And even if someone doesn't want to give that is their choice and they should be treated with respect. That one hockey player or solicitor spoiled it for the whole bunch or the next group that might want to do a fund raising stopping traffic, illegal way of getting donations. And I wouldn't a appreciate some little turd calling me an astard either.

Wow.....What a lovely day you had. lol. That naughty pre-dude needs to have soap shoved in his mouth. I think it's dangerous when teenagers ask for donations by the side of the road too. This is common sense though. Technically, homeless people aren't allowed to do it, so why would teenagers be allowed to do it? Any weirdo can kidnap a kid by shoving them into his car at any time. You just can't approach people freely anymore in today's society. Too many weirdos....

Look at it this way, at least you had great weather, some good beer, and a home and car to enjoy. That's more than what some people are getting these days with the economy. (Winter months have started in other areas, people can barely pay their bills and keep food on the table let alone buy alcohol, others are getting homes foreclosed/evicted from and their cars repo'd.)

The only complaint you had was a couple of greedy and annoying Pre-teens asking for more money, I'd say you are having a beautiful day!!!!

I pretty much paid my own way also in high school for exra-caricular activities and trips. But these days there are always fund-raisers for schools. And these teeny-boopers took their lesson from the fire-fighters taking over the major intersections on Labor Day for the MDA marathon. We set our own example.

But, you are right. The kids should not have been out on a major arterial highway seeking donations! Another form of fundraising would had been more appropriate.

Practically from the first day of school our kids are bringing home flyers about candy drives or other things where our kids are supposed to get out and sell door to door to raise money for various things for the school. Now, I pay taxes every year and I know everyone else does, too. These taxes are supposed to support our schools. Not to mention the fact that lottery promoters coerced the public into legalizing the lottery by pledging a certain amount of the profits would go to support the school system. So what I want to know is why does the school system need our children to go out on the streets begging, as it were, for money to support the schools. Not to mention the danger involved in putting our children out on the streets to interact with strangers. Haven't we been warned to teach our kids not to talk to strangers? Or did they mean unless you're soliciting funds from them?

Come on people you can't have it both ways.

Say, rj...I'm curious about something. How many miles on average do you get outta a pair of tires on your bike?
Fr last longer than a rear? Do they flat spot or do the edges wear uniformly with the centre by cornering?
Are they 'special' harder-n-the-hubs-of-hell type that have a gazillion psi in 'em and no wider than an index fingernail??

Very impressive, RJ! Twenty six cents is a lot of found loot. I am jealous. I'll have to start cruising the parking lots of our local banks. Maybe I'll be able to scrounge up some Christmas gifts after all this year!

As I was reading this I wondered if you can even be sure that this 'begging' was even really for the hockey. I wonder. I agree. I never had to beg EXCEPT once when I wanted to go see Alice's Restaurant and I pan handled for the money. That is the only time I ever begged for money for anything.
