Keep Your Hands To Yourself |
When you play board games, such as Monopoly, do you move other people's game pieces, or do you keep your hands to your own game pieces only?
If you move other people's pieces, why do you do this? Why? Why?
Do you know anyone who inists on moving other people's game pieces? Does it bother you when they do this?
In which board games are you most likely to move someone else's game piece or are you more likely to see someone else move a game piece not their own?

Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | I try not to pick up pieces that don't belong to me, too, eaforeman. I don't think that my children can play unless they are moving every piece on the board.

eaforeman6 (4205) | 1 year ago | I remember those days lol. Now its more the grandchildren who are doing it.lol You should see us playing the trivia game where you have to act out the answer and everyone has to guess. That is funny. Now that I would like to have a movie of lol

Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | That sounds like a lot of fun. I'll have to try it.

2. Irishfrndly65 (7348) | 1 year ago | Oh thanks for that idea. LOL! I grew up with an extremely competitive brother. He'd become a slum lord on monopoly. So I got to the point where I just played to PLAY and not to win.
In Putt Putt golf, I will hit the othe players balls and laugh. In other games I don't even try and so they really get mad when my team wins. LOL! I'm the class clown of the game world. You probably wouldn't enjoy playing with me, if you're the least bit competitive. We play with another couple and the husband(P) is like me and the wife(D) is like my man. So, of course, you know what teams we end up on. P and I just cut up and lose our cards, miss our turns and end up winning. That really gets to my man and D. LOL! It's really fun!

4. OreoCookie3 (18395) | 1 year ago | YES!!! I forget which is mine. I usually choose the shoe.. but sometimes I will get confused and think mine is the hat. I think I just get confused and have a brain freeze or something.

Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | Ah, so you just get confused, eh, Oreo? You don't insist on moving everyone else's pieces for them.

5. ElicBxn (15229) | 1 year ago | I would only move a peice if they asked me to - for example, if they couldn't reach it. I know that I have moved peices, on request, and requested peices to be moved from time to time, mostly with trivial pursuit but also monopoly - before I quit playing it.
| |
| |
Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | That sounds thoughtful of you, ElicBxn.
Why did you quit playing?
| |
ElicBxn (15229) | 1 year ago | Well, I didn't enjoy playing the game. I decided a while back that if I didn't like doing something, I wasn't going to do them anymore. I decided that if I didn't like something, I wasn't going to eat it anymore, play a game anymore, or whatever.
Granted, I don't like going to the hospital, or have surgery and I did that, but if it isn't going to hurt me, I'm just not doing it anymore.
You do know that the streets in Monopoly are taken from Atlantic City.
| |
Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | That makes perfect sense to me.
I didn't realize that about the streets in Atlantic City.
The one I've been playing with my children is the World Edition and all the places are cities around the world.
| |
ElicBxn (15229) | 1 year ago | yeah, now they have all kinds of monopoly, not when I was a kid
| |
Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | I like this new version because it has no cash. Everything is done electronically, and it makes for a much faster game.
| |
someonesmom (2275) | 1 year ago | This may be one of the versions my sister has. I don't recall the places being from around the world though, but it's one of the electronic ones, without the cash. Maybe there's more than one Monopoly version like this?
| |
ElicBxn (15229) | 1 year ago | You got me, the money stuff was part of what I didn't like about monopoly - besides, I think my brother cheated we didn't let him be the banker or he'd help himself.
My roomie's dad and brothers did cheat, passing money to each other.

6. ElusiveButterfly (9422) | 1 year ago | When I played games I often moved the pieces for those who didn't want to reach across the board. This helped when there were houses on the board (Monopoly). But, now if they don't want to make the effort to move their pieces themselves I believe they don't really want to play and end the game.
| |
| |
Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | That makes good sense to me, Elusive. If they don't want to move their own pieces, they must not want to play!

7. zukepr (11799) | 1 year ago | I do accidentally move someone else's piece from time to time See I have certain pieces that I normally pick but if someone gets to the table before me and picks that piece I am forced to use another halfway through the game I forget that i am not my normal piece and try to move it anyway

8. CurlyRed (3474) | 1 year ago | I have done this on occasion with my children, back when they counted, 1, 2, 5, 4, 3, 4, 7, 3, 6.
Many years ago, playing a board game with my sister, I hid her playing piece when she wasnt paying attention. We were playing aggravation.

10. itsmefaith (2236) | 1 year ago | It's been so long since I have played a board game with anyone, but no, I don't think I'm the type to do this. I try not to do things that would annoy me if people did them to me (I am not always successful at this), and I know that would annoy me.
I can't really recall anyone doing it to me, either. I'll pay attention next time I play a board game.

Transdisc (18489) | 1 year ago | You're fortunate to not be able to recall such a thing as this happening to you, Its. I find it annoying.
