|  The doctor put me on Cymbalta about a year ago. First I was a 20mg. went up, and up. All the way to 120mg. I told him I would only take 90mg. So thats where I stated, plus I was on pain meds. So with all that I have side effects, dry mouth, sweating all the time. Every time I've been to the dentist I had 2 to 4 cavities. Plus I would get mouth sores. I always wondered what the meds were doing to me. I know I lost a lot of feelings in my lower body. And did not enjoy sex any more either.
So a few weeks ago I told the nurse I was quiting the Cymbalta. All she said was that I should do it slowly. So I went down to 60mg a week, then 30 a week. Then I stopped. And wow the withdrawals were terrible. I found some 20mgs that I had left, So I started the 20mgs. But my ears are still ringing. Soon I will be off the 20s too.
Yes I feel the back pain more. But hay. I'm still on pain meds which help.
I went to the internet and read about the withdrawals from hell..from antidepressants. I just can't believe the Doctors and Drug companies. What are they doing to us???
I read about St. Johns Wort, that is suppose to help. Have any of you tried it??
Please tell me your feeling about any of the experience you've had..Thanks.

| |  I am taking St. Johns Wort as we speak.... I swear by it,. it does not seem to be habit forming at all. I get a bout of Winter depression every year. It helps so much.. Not expensive like prescriptions, not to mention what it costs to go to the Doctor.
I never have any trouble when I am feeling better and I want to stop taking it.

| |  I don't have any experience with St. John's Wort, but I do have experience with antidepressants. I've tried many different ones before being put on prozac. I know there's been a lot of negative things said about it, but it works for me, so have been loath to try anything else.

| | I'm so sorry to hear of your sorrow. I know how you feel, I lost my mother about 5yrs ago.
Any way the Doctor put me on Paxil too, and all I did was sweat...So I stopped it. And was sick for a week. Then about two months later while at the doctors office I was on a crying jag.
So he put me on Cymbalta. He said because of my cronic back pain and being on pain meds. That I was depressed. Okay so I took the Cymbalta for about a year. And yes I was numb, to everything. I felt good in a way. But just didn't like being on them, plus the cost. So I stopped.
I'm now starting to feel better. But yes I feel more back pain. And do cry a little more.
I did just order some St. Johns Wort. And hopefully it will help.
Do you know of any herbs that help with pain, so I can get off the pain meds. too? If not I'll just keep looking...Thank you, my heart is with you...Pam | | | |

| | I have a lot of pain but all my doctor said was take IB Ibupropin. If it gets real bad I take four of them its safe to take up to 800 mgs every 6-8 hours. My doctor used to give me a perscription for it, but he has cut way down on giving me medications.

| |  They may not have weaned you off correctly. I was on Cymbalta (I'm bipolar), but they switched me to a different anti-depressant. So I didn't have to wean off Cymbalta, they just switched me to the different medicine. I do remember weaning off another medication, and it was so not fun. It took a while for the withdrawal symptoms to go away. As for St. Johns Wart, some people swear by it, but recent research has suggested it is more of a placebo than anything.
